    ESPN Going big

this is great news for usa boxing fans that espn is going big with boxing now. Not only did they land stiverne arreola but its on espn 1 not 2 its not friday night fights and its on a saturday night they then said they want to have 3 or 4 big fights a year. if this happens this is huge news if anyone can take boxing to the next level its espn and they are known to work with everyone which is key. maybe im over reacting but espn having a plan to enter the A side of boxing is huge for the business and it will grow big time when espn is pushing it. if they get the rating those 4 fights will turn into 8 just having another network not tight down by politics is huge. plus they will go all out with cameras and all that anyone who knows espn knows if they go all in on something it will be big and be advertised and hyped every where

If true good, I have seen a big increase in boxing popularity over the last 5 years. Let's hope it continues and it's up to the promoters to make the fights the fans want to see.

WE as fans of the sport have to collectively support this. Ratings are everything.

              in theory,

networks like espn, showtime, hbo can basically eliminate promoters if they wanted to.

Networks in essence are basically fight promoters. They already have the power to show fights. All they basically need is a boxing promoter's license and sign fighters themselves. They can promote the fighters non stop in their network along with their sister networks in far greater fashion and capability than an Arum with top rank or oscar with Golden Boy.

They have the bigger bank to sign fighters to bonuses that arum and oscar cant match. They have the power to show fights. There's really no need for boxing promoters.

ESPN, showtime, HBO can put Arum and Golden Boy Promotions out of business if they wanted to.

I dont see why they havent done this yet.

I never understood the purposes of promoters. I know it sounds ******.

Hopefully they put fights on theatre casually appealing to draw them in

Definitely. Get everyone we can to watch. If these fights do well enough to convince ESPN to start picking up fights, it will help boxing a lot.
