Arum did say "and Gamboa wants as much as Garcia?" during that tirade. Which leads us right back to the issue we already know; how much money is each side asking for?
I don't know what the pot was, but Gamboa has said, over and over, that he'll take 500k. I seriously doubt HBO was offering less than a mill. But, let's just assume for a moment that's what the total purse was. It's now clear HBO thinks Yuri is at least as valuable a name as Garcia. Why shouldn't he ask for half, or at least close to it?

If you are going to make the argument that Mikey isn't a star, then Gamboa even less.

We don't know what the money negotiations look like, but we do know that the Gamboa fight would generate the most interest.

I think they are also trying to get Mikey vs Pac, that's been talked about as well.

I'm just laughing at the Gamboa fans saying Mikey is scared. Let the fight happen, then I want to see each one of you after the fight and let's see how scared Mikey is.

Enough of this BS, I got my money on the kid from Oxnard.

Then some people say Im bias about Mexican champions, promoters, manipulator etc. They are kidnapping the sport protecting their fighters. This Arum is against Cubans so far. Today in el Nuevo herald Rigondeaux said who desperate he is to finish with Arum. Arum is bias against Cubans so much and GB is afraid. What a shame for the sport that those guys are only making fights with the second and third fighters instead with the best

Excellent question. I don't know. Perhaps they thought Mikey would turn out to be something else. What we have before us now indicates that HBO doesn't think all that much of Garcia.

I hope HBo keep the pression against this racist Arum because they even are loosing popularty with Showtime due to this old maniatic, bias, manipulator Bob Arum. But as far as Mickey this is the sentence he is a ducker afraid like Canelo is

I think Mikey and most fighters aren't afraid to fight its what they do.it's in their heart . I'm not gonna sit behind the keyboard and call someone scared. Sure they get nervous and nobody wants to lose, but I heard mikey already ask for Floyd in the future and he spared with Pac so he might think he's ready for the next level and be willing to fight anyone. Now the team around him and the people behind the seen are the ducks . No doubt about that!

That's not a good argument. Garcia vs. Burgos would definitely do better numbers than Gamboa vs. Burgos. Garcia can draw good ratings by himself, but HBO clearly wants excellent ratings, which Garcia vs. Gamboa would bring because Gamboa is a name too.

What Gamboa is tweeting and what's actually happening during talks could be totally, totally different. I doubt either fighter actually knows. None of us will likely ever know either.
