Martinez got his ass kicked by Martin Murray in his last fight. And that was a year ago.

To be undisputed, he would have to somehow get Sturm to come over from Germany and break through the Golden Boy HBO divide. Doesn't really matter. Being lineal is what matters, as it establishes you as the one true champion. Being undisputed just shuts pretenders like Quillin up.

You don't respect the word LINEAL do you?

Dude is the most legit MW champ in a long time.
Like I said, I'm a fan and I respect what he has accomplished. But his days as a top fighter are done.

Premature to say. Depends on if his last fight was an anomaly or just the way he is nowadays.

I think Cotto can walk him down and slow him down with his work to the Body but Cotto does have problems with Movers but Sergio coming off of injuries plus his age, can he still move around like he was able to before the knee injury and can he do it for 12 Rounds?

If Sergio is 100% and the Knee is find and the Stamina is good, then I think he gets a easy UD, if not then I think Cotto walks him down and slows him down with those body punches.

Freddy is a good trainer but when it comes to his guy facing slick guys...NOT SO GOOD!

Cotto probably won't have much power at middleweight. He certainly won't have the power guys like Pavlik and Chavez had, or even Barker and Macklin. The price he'd pay for getting in position to land body shots wouldn't be worth it. He'd take far more damage than he'd dish out.

Actually being lineal doesnt even mean much these days considering you could only fight one guy in the division, leave and claim lineal status. And with promotional/network divides, the best dont often fight the best so you have weaker/untested lineal champs.

Sergio is not an example of this but it does hinder the sport.

I think being lineal does mean a lot because it signifies you beat the best fighter in the division. What untested lineal champions come to mind?
