Not really possible, there are too many non-boxing factors involved. If you had someone exceptionally talented (as in SRR level), who was impossibly famous and therefore had the clout to set up their own promotional company (as in Leonard), who didn't mind getting less money to fight more often, AND who was at the epicentre of a major cultural event (as in Ali and civil rights) then that would be a STARTING PLATFORM. Had Lomachenko learned English, fought and beaten Salido, Rigo, Donaire and Garcia this year while fighting in the Russo-Crimean war, then that's a tilt.

    Not gonna happen though. Ever.

In my honest opinion, no. The current state of boxing and society as a whole would need to burst, so that you get people fighting on a weekly basis. As things stand stars are manufactured, and losers are seldom celebrated; as a result, fighters' are often protected and any accomplishment they make is often cheapened.

        of course there is.

nobody is stopping a small guy from fighting his way through HW, the way sam langford did.

you've got to win the fights and actually accomplish things, though, and that's just not happening.

Too many people that make their mark by being haters, for example:
He is the only boxer in history to start his career as a light middleweight (154 lbs) and go on to win a heavyweight title.
won the WBA Heavyweight title, becoming the first former middleweight champion to win a heavyweight title in 106 years.
You guys say if Floyd loses it doesnt hurt his legacy much....BS. Look at what RJJ accomplished, things that have NEVER been accomplished in boxing and you same people try to throw BS on their name. There is NO WAY a boxer has a chance at being GOAT, except Floyd. You guys are saying now he has to beat a middleweight and we know if he did YOU GUYS would still have something negative to say. Honestly I think he would stop Pac. (just my opinion) if he did people would still have excuses. So the goat is whoever YOU believe it is.

Its impossible. IMO the top 10 is set in stone. In todays age there's not enough competition, not enough fighters, not enough activity and not enough fights between elite fighters.

BITD there were more fighters who fought more often. Its a case of classic competition. When the competition is greater, you have to better to excel.

If you have 100 fighters who battle it out to determine the top 10 and compare those 10 to a top 10 determined by 1,000 fighters I think it is quite clear which crop is the best.
