Comments Thread For: Arum: I Have No Confidence That Rios Can Make 140

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, who promotes former champion Brandon Rios, is not confident in Rios' belief that he can make the junior welterweight limit of 140-pounds.

Rios has been pushing for a fight with WBO 140-pound champion Ruslan Provodnikov, who returns to HBO on June 14th.

Man Rios has only fought 2 or 3 times at 140! If he already can't make 140 then that means he and his trainers are either slacking or don't know what they are doing.

Rios has a completely different view.

He said he doesn't even want to fight at 147 and only fought there to fight Pacquaio.

He said 140 is where he wants to fight. Like I said, he said he doesn't even want to fight at 147.

Arum is a d1ckhead for even saying this. If that's what he truly believes, fine. No need to say it.

Rios has already come out and said that he isn't going to fight at 147, so what the hell is Arum gonna do then?

I'm getting sick of these promoters making excuses for not giving us what we want to see. Business is business, but they're in the entertainment business and have customers to serve and today's promoters are doing a piss poor job.

I have to agree with you. Some things shouldn't be said by your promoter. Arum is supposed to get you fights, not get you out of fights. The only excuse I'll give Arum is that Rios popped for taking diuretics in Macau, and that probably embarrassed TR to the point that Arum has loss faith in his fighter. If that's the case, let him go to GBP. There are plenty of Jr. Welterweights @ GBP for Rios to fight.
