That's where I stand as well, Wlad is always gonna be a problem if he's allowed to excessively hold and lean into his opponents but the good news is that Frazier will be able to deal with that better than anyone Wlad has ever faced. Question is whether he'll handle it well enough to win.
How long would Frazier last against Wladimir?

Frazier would look like he's one or two weight classes below Wlad if they ever fought. It would probably look like when he fought Foreman.Comment

Man it's not even about Fraziers left hook. It's about Fraziers ATG head movement, it's about him bobbing and weaving and makin it difficult for Wlad's big jab to land. Fraziers style was made to counter tall, outside boxers like Wlad.
In order to win Wlad would either have to fight more aggressively, or just clinch Frazier, strangle the life out of the fight and hope the ref doesn't punish him too severely.
If a Wlad fan can come up with an intelligent arguement why Wlad would win I'd love to hear it, but just continuing to trot out the Frazier's too small line is just ******.Comment

Can you come up with an intelligent argument as to why frazier would win? If he'd try get on the inside, he'd just land in Wlad's bear hug all night like Povetkin did. He won't even land his left hook knowing the huge height and reach advance Wlad has. Frazier wasn't a versatile or particularly intelligent boxer; he mostly relied on his famous left hook with which he ko'ed many of his opponents. What would he do with Wlad when his hook would be annulled immediately? You see that friggin' jab in my avi?Man it's not even about Fraziers left hook. Certain win for Wlad.

If you talk about Wladimir Klitschko before 2003, I would say Frazier has it.
But there is no way a prime Frazier would beat a post-2005 Wladimir.Comment

Tougher fight than some here say, and not as tough as others say. Now, let's not try and smooth over anything - simply put, both fighters have different advantages -
Wlad:
- Jab
- Height
- Power
- Strength (much of which from weight)
- Straights
Frazier:
- (Left) hooks and uppercuts
- Head movement
- Inside game
- Chin
- Perhaps speed
Now, it's hard to say with certainty which skillset you would rather have - however, Wlad's advantages are more easily accessible, if that makes sense. Joe's advantages could be negated with effective clinching and keeping it an outside fight, which I think Wlad could do. I don't see how Frazier negates a telephone pole jab and straight, power, height and strength of Wlad without getting on the inside and actually being allowed to work.
I think the fight would go around 12 rounds, and it would be a very tough night's work for Wlad, he would need to remain constantly active and keep that jab out all night to not allow Frazier inside. After 12 Wlad probably stops him. Over 15 I don't know, possibly if Frazier get's Wlad in trouble and his heart pulls him through, Frazier might win a close decision or something.
But in all likelihood, it's probably a tough Wlad win.

Frazier had the speed and head movement to get inside that jab. It seems to me the only way Wlad wins is by clinching, holding and basically strangling the life out of the fight. If the ref lets Frazier fight on the inside he brutalises Wlad. Can you come up with an intelligent argument as to why frazier would win? Essentially the only way Klit wins is if gets a ref that favours him, yet half the posters on this thread are acting like Wlad would do to Frasier what Foreman did. Prime Foreman was one of the most destructive punchers of all time. Prime Wlad was (is?) one of the most conservative, safety-first boxers of all time. There is no way Prime Wlad destroys Prime Frazier. If Wlad wins it would be an ugly, dull victory.Last edited by Welsh Jon; 03-13-2014, 09:04 AM.Comment
