  • Could Marcos Maidana's rabbit punches rough up Floyd Mayweather?

Floyd Mayweather is vulnerable to rabbit punches in the clinch.

Robert Guerrero rabbit punched Mayweather at will. Only problem is Guerrero hasn't had a knockout in four years. His last knockout was against Roberto David Arrieta in 2010.

Mayweather is visibly roughed up by Guerrero's rabbit punches.

Now look at what Marcos Maidana's rabbit punches can do (way more damage than Guerrero's).

Skip to 16:03 to see Maidana's rabbit punches in action.

I think Maidana's rabbit punches will lead to Mayweather getting TKO'd. Good luck, Mayweather. Hope your legs are ready. Yikes!

A man calls into a boxing talk show and makes a case for Maidana rabbit punching Mayweather.

Interesting call that inspired this post.

Ortiz did it against Mayweather, Guerrero attempted it and neither of them got enough leverage to have any effect on Mayweather. Even in the clinches Mayweather is moving his head to minimize the effects. I mean look at the still pictures you posted, he's in control.

Maidana's rabbit punches are better than Ortiz'.

Ortiz was having some success roughing floyd up till he mentally collapsed... and Ghost not having leverage is nothing new.. Maidana however has had a streak of getting great leverage on his punches. Even floyd moving his head with a punch he may still get rattled a bit because of the conviction with which Maidana throws.

Safest tactic for floyd is to stay on his toes all night and not let maidana test his shell at all... easier said than done.

Floyd will just come back with the 'Forearm to the Face-Elbow Smash-Duck Below the Waist' Combo.

A knockdown -- not caused by an accumulation of blows -- caused by sheer blunt force. A single bludgeoning blow.
