A month ago, I saw Arum make comments about Amir Khan getting screwed around by Mayweather. I knew Khan would be too dumb to realise he was being manipulated by Bob, who was doing some good old fashioned ****-stirring. A few days later, Khan got mad and announced Floyd's opponent before he could (he also thanked Arum for his supportive words).
Inspired by this, I created the following thread, with the deliberate attempt to see if I could get Oscar's attention. I thought it was a long shot. But I also know the boxing community is small. Smaller than we think. Maybe.
Talk about anything boxing related here. Where the boxing discussion is always Non Stop!
Who is more influential at Golden Boy Promotions - Oscar or Floyd?

Must be galling for Oscar, to know the promotional company he set up these days feels little more than Haymon's plaything, with everything geared around Mayweather - someone who regularly taunts him (and not always for the camera).
I know Oscar was never the brains behind GBP, but without him, there would be no GBP. And so at what point, when says he loves/respect Arum and wants to end the Cold War, is he actually heard and treated as something more than an inconvenience by Schaefer?
I know GBP benefit from being affiliated with Mayweather. But Floyd has no loyalty to anyone but himself - and he's gonna retire in a few fights.
What then? Crawl back to HBO?
I gotta say, Haymon is a genius. He leverages Mayweather against Showtime, getting Floyd huge guarantees, while also getting his other fighters, no matter how mediocre, well paid dates on SHO.
Remember when GBP was supposed to be a promotional outfit run by fighters for fighters? And not some insular, Mayweather-centric entity run by Haymon, Schaefer and Espinoza?

'The internal Strife at Golden Boy between Oscar De La Hoya and Richard Schaefer is really heating up, as the investors are backing Oscar in this ongoing saga. Look for Schaefer to resign under pressure or be fired. Schaefer will more than likely end up at Floyd Mayweather's promotional company, with Al Haymon's fighters that aren't tied to GBP in tow! This could get really ugly, including allegations that lead to lawsuits. At this point in time there's only speculation on how this will effect what is shown on Showtime relating to boxing. As more info comes out will post it here, as the boxing websites aren't writing anything on this because of fear that they won't be issued press credentials to GBP events if they write negativity about the problems at GBP. Intersting situation unfolding, let's see where the players land!'
I read that too, someone shared it on Facebook. Who is this Rick Glaser dude?
The thing is, if that is true, that is absolutely astonishing. I mean, a parting of the ways between Oscar and Schaefer would be seismic news, the repercussions huge. What happens to Schaefer, Haymond, Floyd, the ******uous relationship has with Showtime Sports, run by GBP's ex attorney in Espinoza.
What will Golden Boy have left if it loses all the Haymon fighters? If they move over to Floyd's company, they still won't be able to fight Top Rank fighters. That's a serious issue.
