Cotto's best chance is Martinez's reflexes AND legs being completely gone...and handspeed and breaks his hands (though that doesnt seem to stop him...).

This matchup is honestly a little worrying for Cotto. It also is for Martinez because we dont know whats left... But if there IS some left no way Cotto gets a premier fight again...
This post is just... The worst... If Martinez can't move he has no chance... Cotto is one of best inside fighters in the game... and he can also box and move... If Martinez can't use his bread and butter (his legs) he has no chance.

            At 160 lbs?

I do believe that Martinez looks really good against slow fighters. He can showcase his speed and athleticism.

Martinez looks less spectacular against more technical boxers who have good footwork.

Paul Williams wasn´t slow and his footwork wasn´t bad either, and Sergio looked pretty impresive. Let´s see how quick is Cotto with 160 lbs.

The Sergio that fought P-Will would make easy work of Cotto. Luckily for him that Sergio doesn´t exist anymore.

My point isn´t that Cotto is a worse boxer than Chavez Jr or Pavlik. But both of them would beat him just because they are a lot bigger and stronger.

And Sergio defeated them, as I said Cotto isn´t Sergio more dangerous opponent by a far margin at 160 lbs. The only reason Cotto agreed to this fight is because he knows that Sergio is old and with a bad knee. And i don´t blame Cotto btw, he knows Sergio is there for the taking.

How will Cotto get past Martinez's straight punches? Cotto is too easy to hit cleanly (ask Trout). Martinez will use his height, reach, speed, and skill to outbox Cotto while beating him up at the same time.
According to compubox... Over their last 6 fights Martinez is easier to hit than Cotto. Facts.

              • Very difficult assignment for Cotto. He will need to be on point in all facets to defeat Sergio. Slaying P.Will is noteworthy.

                • Martinez is gonna smash on Pink Croc shoe Cotto then beat up on Can-yellow after I can't wait.

Props to Miguel for being a man and having balls to face best middleweight at middleweight division but that's an ultimate mismatch.

Even worse than rigged bullshit Chocha-Angulo.
Why should Miguel get props for ducking a guy for years then finally fighting him when he is coming off multiple injuries who 9 times out of 10 won't be anywhere near 100% when he fights him? I Like Cotto, never thought he was soft, but lets call it how it is.

With the exception of Mayweather, Martinez has faced a much higher level of opposition in his last six fights than Cotto. But anyway:
Let's see who got hit more.
                      Cotto-Rodriguez: 16 punches
                      Cotto-Trout: 238 punches
                      Cotto-Mayweather: 179 punches
                      Cotto-Margarito: 157 punches
                      Cotto-Foreman 71 punches
                      Cotto-Pacquiao: 336 punches
                      I couldn't find Cotto-Mayorga. That's why I included Cotto-Pacquiao.
Total Rounds: 57 Total Punches: 997 Punches per round: 17.5
                      Martinez-Murray: 160 punches
                      Martinez-Chavez: 178 punches
                      Martinez-Macklin: 135 punches
                      Martinez-Barker: 155 punches
                      Martinez-Dzinziruk: 161 punches
                      Martinez-Williams 2: 33 punches
Total Rounds: 56 Total Punches: 822. Punches per round: 14.7

So Cotto, against a mostly lower level of opposition, got hit more than Martinez did against a higher level of opposition. Looks like Cotto is easier to hit. Look who Cotto got hit against the most: Pacquiao and Trout. Both fast. Both southpaws. Martinez is also very fast and also a southpaw. He's taller and rangier than either. He's far more powerful than either. Looks like statistically, the numbers favor Martinez.
