Well I don't really see the point you're trying to make.

Abril bitch slapped Rios, got the fight, and schooled him. So obviously the approach worked. If Abril didn't garner attention and buzz after that it was because he didn't follow up with landing bigger fights or the powers that be tried to suppress his career.

Lara sounds like he was starting to tear up begging for the fight.

Lara is just desperate for a payday. Right now he is Al Haymon's whipping boy and there is no one in the Haymon/TMT stable that will do anything for him.
Canelo wanted the Floyd fight but had to prove he could be a draw on his own to get it. He took on an undefeated Trout in front of a huge crowd in the Alamodome and proved he was worthy of his shot at the best. Lara beat Trout but no one saw it and no one cared after Canelo was done with him. Lara beat Angulo but was dropped twice and on his way to getting beat before he thumbed him in the eye. The same Angulo that Canelo just dominated and went toe to toe with after every hater said he would be knocked out.
Lara is just the next boogie man the Canelo haters will look at to try and knock him down a peg. Fact is the Mayweather fight elevated his status in the game just like I said it would win or lose.
Canelo owned this fool on that stage, one of the weakest call outs I have ever seen. He might as well have passed Canelo a note like in high school reading "check yes or no." To even compare this to a HOF like Mosley confronting Floyd in the ring is comical.

Lara is going to have to carve a name for himself first if he wants the big pay days ... canelo, floyd even GGG. He is a good fighter (though imo not necessarily a great one) but nobody wants to watch him fight ... he's like a considerably less good Rigo.

Canelo or whoever would be faced with a guy who wouldn't bring in much money and would probably (win or lose) make them look bad/boring in the process.

Without some money behind him people are going to continue ignoring lara.

Seems people have not learn from the "Canelo would not fight Trout or he scared of trout" scenario, as the op is puerto rican he too can learn from the "Garcia was shooked" "Run garcia run" scenario with Lucas, its about time boxing fans start becoming boxing "fans".
