Joe Frazier - too OVERRATED!?

Don't get me wrong now. There is no shame in losing to Ali and twice getting completely destroyed by Foreman. Frazier also got a win against prime Ali, which is as good a win as they get.

But which other really good victories does he have? I respect that he defeated almost all of his many opponents by KO, but which of them would you consider the top 5 wins besides Ali and why?

I think Frazier is overrated, going by the way Foreman destroyed him and the fact that he doesn't seem to have other great wins than Ali, but don't get me mad, I'm asking for opinions to get smarter. I think he is overrated, but I would love to be proven wrong.

His win over Ali is quite simply one of the greatest wins anybody in the history of the sport has... take that out and his resume still pisses over most other fighters ... Ellis, Bonavena, Quarry, Foster etc.

He got blown out by foreman ... marciano, tyson or anybody with that style gets blown out by foreman.

Frazier is a legit ATG and it's not up for dispute.

Hell no Smokin Joe isn't overrated...He is one of the 10 greatest heavyweights of all time. He beat a prime Ali for Christ sakes.

how is he overrated? some people think vitali is one of the greats and he has zero great wins. even frazier's secondary wins sh-it all over vitali's best wins. quarry and ellis over sam peter and corrie sanders anyday.

I wouldn't say Smokin' Joe is overrated. Not at all. Granted he is very well known for his losing efforts to Ali and Foreman BUT he beat Ali emphatically in the 'Fight of the Century', (and it was an ATG great fight too) and just about any man on planet Earth with Joe's fighting style would have been flattened by Foreman that night...

The first man to beat Muhammad Ali doesn't really get put into the overrated category in my opinion. Then to fight him again and display what Ali claimed to be the 'nearest thing to dying', this is Muhammad Ali talking about him, the man that many class as the GOAT...That doesn't sit well with claims of him being overrated.

I don't consider Ali to have been in his prime for any of the Frazier fights.

Despite that, it was still one of the greatest wins in the history of the heavyweight division. Add in Quarry, Machen, Chuvalo, Bonavena, Ellis, Mathis, and Foster- who was still tough- and you've got a clear ATG resume.

Without any doubt the best heavyweight of all time under 6' tall.
