Back to topic, Marciano would be anywhere from 10-15 I'm not sure... I don't think anybody can criticize the Klitschkos for having a weak division then defend Rockys!
Good point. I've been really restudying Marciano overr the past couple weeks. Starting to change my whole list around.

    Ali
    Louis
    Lewis
    Holmes

You just can't say, because he fought soooo many faded fighters.

He didn't just fight a faded Joe Louis, the guy was waaaaaay retired, and over the hill. And you didn't have any PEDS that has lead to this magical mexican old man boxing revival.

Frankly, Marciano fighting Joe Louis was a disgrace, and Rocky should be ashamed.

Marciano hit very hard, and had a great chin, but the Ali that fought Liston would've embarrassed him, schooled him. But then again, that Ali would've beaten anybody.

                Thoughts?
                Marciano is top 5.

Joe Louis was past his prime at age 37, but Marciano was impressive against him.

La Starza was a very good opponent.

Joe Walcott was the same age 38 that Wladimir Klitschko is now, and like Wlad had a late prime. Those 2 wins by Rocky over Walcott are actually very good.

Archie Moore was still good and wasn't smaller than Marciano, Rocky was actually shorter and had a much shorter reach than Moore. Archie Moore went on a winning streak after his losses to Marciano, and was still fighting in the 1960s (in fact he fought Cassius Clay).

Charles wasn't a middleweight, he had fought at HW for awhile and was bigger than Marciano (and close to the same age).

                  Luis
                  Ali
                  Holmes
                  Marciano
                  Johnson

Granted I can only go off documentaries, YT videos and just who I prefered stylistically, I'm not gonna pretend I was there to live the era for the earlier fighters. I love Joe Luis because of what he stood for for race and also Ali done a similar thing not too long ago after.

I try not to concentrate too much on resume and wins, I know alot of fighters back then came back to avenge losses and adversaries, and that can stand for more than keeping an 0, but Marciano was small for a heavy weight, and kinda funny looking, but he was just so brutally powerful and raw, he's definitely someone I consider an ATG

Moore went on a streak of complete cans, then got waxed all over the ring by Floyd, then almost got stopped in 1 by CANadian Durelle. Come on that is not a good win.

I don't care how big these guys are, they ate spaghetti for paychecks.

I think he deserves more credit for beating Louis than he gets, and Louis is my favorite heavyweight. Obviously Louis wasn't prime when he fought him but he was still the favorite to win at the time and Marciano pulled off the upset.
