If I am not correct in your opinion, explain how.
To casual observers it would most likely be devastating... To knowledgable boxing fans Mayweather's legacy is secure, he's a modern great, the best fighter of his generation and one of the three or four best fighters of the last 25-30 years along with B-Hop, Roy and Pacquiao.

Casual observers who buy into his whole TBE bull would most likely fall quickly off the bandwagon as is the case in modern times!

      So other fighters can lose

Undefeated just means you havent fought anyone

how man undefeated fighters can you name?

all the universally top fighters have lost

yet if Floyd LOST IT MAKES HIM NOBODY?

For his legacy it would have been a lot better had he lost and the earlier the better.

Let's say the decision in the first Castillo fight was given to Castillo. Floyd would have had no undefeated record to protect and could have taken on all comers. He fights Manny, Williams, Martinez, and Lara. Even if he lost to one of those men, his record would be greatly improved by the names of the other 3. Even if he lost to 2 of them, it would be offset by the wins over the other 2.

It would be bad for boxing in the sense that there would be no gimmick left to sell as many PPVs.
