You take ALL HW boxers outside of the K brothers, and i'm telling you, no one excites me more than AJ.
He's young, extremely intelligent, savvy, in phenomenal shape, he's quick, powerful and has the weight of a nation behind him.
Yes, he's untested and hasn't been in with anyone, and naturally until he does he will continue to have a question mark over his head, but frankly, lets look at the division;
Delboy - mid range / fringe contender AT BEST.
Fury - He's a defeat waiting to happen, although he entertains me immensely and is fantastic for the sport, as a character.
Wilder - Untested, as is AJ, but dreadfully wild in style and doesn't possess much else, other than power. I've seen more graceful Rhinos.
Price - Narrow eyed nice guy who should be commentating on boxing, not participating. No heart.
Chris Arreola - Club fighter, plain and simple. He's be a good match against Delboy.
Haye - Well we probably wont see him in the ring again, but respect, a good NATURAL cruiserweight, but he's no top HW boxer.
To be honest, i cant even be bothered to list the rest of them - you all know who they are, and they're all ok, so, so, but in the grand scheme of things, not good enough.
We wont see AJ tested in deeper water until end of this year minimum, but he's being developed in a good, correct manor and i have no problem with him learning his trade from the bottom up.
There is something special about him. His intelligence is staggering, and he played a genious card in Glascow walking into the ring to the sound of the Proclaimers! I dont think i've ever witnessed an English boxer getting a reception like that before in Scotland!
We'll know a lot more once his chin has been tested, which in time it will be, but for now at least his progression has been PERFECT and all the signs point to a national hero in the making.
Watch this space, the kid is flying.
