Comments Thread For: Chavez-Vera 2 Pulled in Nearly 1.4 Million Viewers

The rematch between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Bryan Vera pulled in an audience on par with HBO’s most-watched boxing broadcasts of last year.

Chavez-Vera 2 did an average of 1,390,000 viewers, peaking at 1,531,000 viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research.

That’s similar to the number for Chavez-Vera 1, which last September pulled in an average of 1,416,000 viewers and peaked at 1,542,000. [Click Here To Read More]

Great rating. the only problem is can HBO trust Chavez to be propery prepared and dedicated for his next fight? I don't suppose they can do a GGG ppv if chavez gets a gift decision like he did Vera 1.

It just kills people that Chavez Jr is 50 times better than he was supposed to be and 100 times better than they want him to be

So much for Jr's popularity falling off.

Can GGG do a Chavez Jr fight without taking a PR hit? If he fights Jr an oz below 168, its a farce. If he fights him at 168, its a flat out duck of Ward.

I dont see it like that. I thought the ideal fight for GGG at 168 was Froch, but his last performance kind of negated that. Chavez looked great and has a strong, loyal fanbase same as Froch.

Its a good fight IMO. Should he lose to GGG, it wont hurt Chavez stock. Frankly, he has far exceeded where I'd thought he'd be. If he stays focused he could do big things.

If they do fight, so long as one of the next 2 fights for the winner is Ward, its fine.
