Tell me... is this being a warrior?

I fight amateur, just for fun, but i love to do it and love going to war. Anyways...

Friday i faught and i should say i already have a torn ACL but have done a lot fo physio to make it stronger and wear a knee brace. I have hurt it before in sparring and had to take some time off, but since then i did hard physio and it hasnt been much of a problem except for getting sore.

On Friday within 30 seconds into the second round i twisted my knee bad. At this point it was bad pain and i could barley move. My entire strategy in this fight was to throw a combo and take a step to the side, then to the other side etc. So i needed my feet. Also i wanted to press forward get on the inside, then step to the side, be it that the guy was a few inches taller than me. Couldnt do that with my knee.

Once my knee got ****ed I almost gave up in my head, knowing i'd lose, but i told my coach that i wanted to finish the fight. Is it a warrior, even if i said im gonna lose but still keep fighting. I feel like i shouldnt have had that mentality, i should have said in my head, despite my knee, i will find a way to win. But regardless i stuck it out, now on Sunday i can barley walk and my knee is messed bad.

If you was a pro that would have been some worrior type **** ...but for someone who was not getting paid and doing it for fun was kinda of silly .....you do get points for knowing the odds was against you and still refusing to not letting the other person have a easy night

Ever hear the term, "Discretion is the better part of valor"? You're a warrior, dude. You don't need to prove it to anyone. Risking a chronic knee injury and several months of therapy and pain over an amateur boxing match nobody but yourself cares about is a little too much. Just my opinion.

ya i see that it was kind of dumb, but i had lots of people watching me and didnt want to pack it in in the second round, or abetween the second and third round when my coach asked me if i watned to. The guy kicked my ass because of this, and he was trying soooooo hard to KO me but he couldnt even when i was a sitting duck and couldnt use footwork. I still bloodied his mouth and in the end he looked pretty haggered.

Sounds like you made a good go of it. You're a tough dude with a warrior mentality. To be honest, I envy you a little. I haven't even sparred in years, although I'd love to right now. The reason? I just don't see the point in getting my nose broken or something "for fun" at this stage in my life. I've thought about using that "face-saver" headgear; but, at nearly 50, I don't know if that's even worth it anymore.

I knew you were young by several things in your post. lol I tore some ligaments in my knee playing tackle football at the beach when I was 18 (we all do dumb shit when we're young). It took over a year for the knee to return to 100% condition. Like someone else said: if you're a pro, it's cool; if it's for fun, not so cool. Hope you heal soon, bro!
