Gennady Golovkin Could Face Julio Ceasar Chavez, Jr. this July

there are reports arum could match chavez, jr. against golovkin this july assuming chavez, jr. defeats vera in their rematch.

if the fight gets made, and that's a big IF, chavez, jr. is in for a beating. he pretty much blocks his opponents' punches with his face and with golovkin's scary power, chavez, jr. would be lucky to not to develop permanent damage. for his sake, i'm hoping chavez, jr. improves defensively or it could be a short night.

    your thoughts?

Frock got a fight and arum won't let Chavez fight ward without signing him first. If ward wants Chavez, he better break away from goosen

no one can drag chavez to go 160 just to fight GGG, should be 168, and I got GGG by close but UD

If Chavez gets another gift against Vera, I can see Arum matching him against GGG. At least he'd be the bigger man, and style wise he has a better chance of beating GGG than Ward. I see him getting broken down slowly but surely, he has a good chin but I don't think his body has really been tested.

Unfortunately Chavez Jr. Does not seem to possess the heart of a champion like his Father does.... Until he's ready to dedicate himself to his craft, he'll never reach his full potential...
But against GGG his full potential probably wouldn't be enough anyway.....

Everyone wants to fight Chavez Jr. because of his drawing power and his solid but not great skills... To be honest, the only special thing he brings to the table is his consistent body attack.... His chin is also a strength.... His so so endurance coupled with his lack of hand speed and general overall quickness should spell his doom vs GGG....

GGG would have to fight at Super Middleweight because Chavez has weight issues..... GGG would also be giving up a few pounds to Chavez Jr. After the weigh in Chavez Jr. should hydrate to at least a 10 pound advantage.... But this that's not enough to overcome GGG....
I'd expect a middle to late round stoppage for GGG.... His power, balance and relentless pressure should be just to much for Chavez Jr. In my opinion, but you never know, much stranger things have happen....

Chavvez is crap. Not even as popular anymore.

Thought GGG was staying at 160? Wasnt that a reason for no Ward

I think this is the fight K2 wants for Golovkin. Arum said K2 contacted him about the fight. It would have to be at 168. But it will give GGG the most exposure he has ever gotten and could possibly be a PPV knowing Arum. I would assume the plan after this fight would be to go back down to 160 for Golovkin and try to get a match with Sergio in the fall. Having fought a common opponent (Chavez) would also make the fight bigger.

I know some will say why not fight Ward then? But Chavez and Sergio are much bigger fights than Ward at the moment.
