Lara pulled their card. They (GGG camp) were saying the same thing about quillen how whenever GGG is brought up to quillen he starts talking the hbo /showtime beef , but that the fight can still be made. Now a slick 154 pounder is calling him out and all you hear is crickets and bunny farts. Look at the history, these 2 companies have worked together not too long ago with the Lara / vanes martirosian fight remember that? GGG needs to start fighting different fighters - he is 33 years old , i guess when they answered Ward by saying GGG has unfinished business at 160 they meant the Darren Barkers/ Martin Murrays/ Daniele Geals / Mathew Macklins / Andy Lees of the world - all of you so called boxing anaylists out there tell me how the crop of fightets i just mentioned will help him prepare for a Andre Ward or anyone else with a real pulse or skill set at this point his team is doing more harm than good..

Vanes Lara was also only made because the WBC ordered it, which meant it went to a purse bid. Top Rank won the purse bid meaning there was no Golden Boy promotions.

Obviously Lara isn't going to be made Golovkin's mandatory being that he isn't a 160 pound fighter. But Thats really the only way Golden Boy/Top Rank HBO/Showtime fights can be made (by way of purse bids forced by sanctioning bodies).

According to Carl Morretti, Vice President of Top Rank, his company outbid Golden Boy Promotions to secure the rights to the WBC's final junior middleweight eliminator between Vanes Martirosyan (32-0, 20KOs) and Erislandy Lara (17-1-1, 11KOs). The mandatory purse bid was held this morning in Mexico. Top Rank, who promote Vanes, placed a bid of $405,000, and Golden Boy bid $326,000.

The winner will become the mandatory challenger to the upcoming fight between champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and challenger Josesito Lopez, which takes place on September 15th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

For those that keep mentioning Lara and Ward, go back and read previous articles, then consider how boxing works in terms of weight classes and defining a strategic goal for unifying titles in your current weight class, then post on threads.. that aside, though it will not happen, I would love to see GGG rip that IBF title from Sturm's grasp after a 7 rd KO of Lee.
