Along with the money, he gets a solid footing in the WW division beating someone who's rated higher than him and a mandatory position in line for Porter.
Or he could just fight Porter? Or Broner? Or Thurman? He could take all 3 of those fights, lose all three, and the Brook fight would STILL be there for him to retire on.

Highly doubt 5 million or however much will still be on the table. He could do the opposite and still get those fights because of name value win/lose

Why wouldn't it? You think the UK public would have less demand for this fight if Khan lost in the US again? I disagree, I think Khan could lose 5 more times and the UK will still demand Khan v Brook. But if Khan fought Brook now and lost, chances of him getting $1 million+ fights in the US thereafter are drastically reduced.
For example, if Khan waited for a FMJ fight next year, he could pocket that payday, lose, then go fight Brook and lose with no consequences.
Why in the world would he take this fight? It would make absolutely no sense for Khan to take this fight at this time. It's all risk and absolutely no reward. Beating Brook will get him no more credibility in the boxing world than he has currently. Brook is just looking to fight tomatoe cans and protect that 0 until he can land that one big payday against Khan, and Khan should not give him that payday until Brook has earned it. Anyone who claims that one more loss for Khan would take away this potential Brook fight is unequivocally false and actually quite ignorant. The money will always be there, no reason to take the fight until the W would actually mean something.
All risk an no reward? 5 million dollars in reward my friend. That is more than he will make in any other fight aside from Pac or Floyd, and even then that might be about all he would make there and that is a high estimate.
This is the best fight for him, period. It is a huge event, in the UK. It would be massive exposure back home, build his fan base a little bit more. Brook is a pretty credible opponent, and exactly the type he needs to fight right now. I think he would box Brook's ears off, maybe even stop him, which is also what he needs. A win against a solid contender like Brook would legitimize him at 147 a little bit, then maybe one other solid win and Floyd might actually look at him. I don't see how anyone could be against this fight.
I however have my doubts that they could sc**** together 5 million to pay him for this fight. 5 mill for both fighters, I could see that, for just Khans side of the purse? Doubtful. Lets not act like Khan makes 2-3 million per fight.
He wants Floyd but is doing nothing to advance his career in the meantime
^ that's what I don't get. Khan seems to have this inflated feeling of self entitlement and thinks he can talk his way into a big fight, and it's kinda funny to see it blow up in his face
**Apparently Khan will announce his next opponent pretty soon, it better be good. It's really gotta be one of: Guerrero, Broner, Peterson, Collazo, Thurman, Matthysse or Porter
If he gets offered that much £5M or $8M he better take it lol, that's probably more than he would make in a Mayweather fight (Not counting the PPV UK money).
This won't be a huge fight because let's be honest it isn't, but here in the UK it could get marketed well and get a lot of viewers. In the USA they will be lucky if it sells as no one really thinks this is a great fight, but for Khan and the position he is currently in he should do it in my opinion and pocket that money while he does it.
It is a chance for him to gain some positive exposure in the UK again (seeing as he has ****** lately in America up until the crappy Diaz fight here). Get past Brook and then get some names under his belt in the States and earn his big time fights the right way...As for Brook, it is a chance for him to prove himself and it is also a bit of a positive for the fans out there who want to see Brook actually fight someone. And I like Khan, if he doesn't fight a big name American he should do this.
Just been announced by Eddie Hearn that Amir Khan has been offered £5 million ($8 million) to fight Kell Brook!
That's probably the most lucrative fight right now for khan, Brooks been trying to force a fight with him for years and there's genuine animosity between them stemming from a sparring session a few years back!
Personally I'd be surprised if khan takes the fight, Brook is an athletic boxer as well as a big puncher, if it were to happen I can't see Khan going the distance!
No, Khan cant fight Brook. Khan needs to ask Floyd who he needs to beat, to take the guessing game out of it, and trying to read Floyds mind and the excuses he might want to make to avoid fighting khan.
Floyd twitters tell who I should fight khan or Maidana. Now Khan must tweet to Floyd tell me who I must beat to get the fight with you.
As long as FLoyd don't tweet back fight Ward, it should be ok for khan. Maybe if FLoyd says I will fight the best uk guy in the future, maybe khan beating broner will be good.
