If we are talking the here and now (kind of in order but some are debatable) Ali, Tyson, Floyd, Foreman, Frazier, Leonard, Oscar, Lewis (remember how his team used him on The Celebrity Apprentice, they always used him as the front man because people knew him), Pacquiao.

Within realistic boundaries such as age etc there probably isn't a person on the planet who doesn't know about Muhammad Ali and who he is/what he did. Mike Tyson as well to a degree, but over all it is Ali hands down. He is almost certainly in the top three most world-wide famous athletes of all time, ever, never mind just out of boxers.

A lot of the guys who have posted here have all pretty much said the same guys and I kind of agree, but for some reason I feel as though if you went all around the world and asked everyone about Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather, there would be tons of people who would have no clue what you where talking about, although that maybe because boxing isn't as big anymore...

Ali for everything he did, Tyson for how he blew up and Louis for his impression on the WWII era with the Schmeling fight I would say.

I remember asking my mum and the only one she had heard of were Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Tyson, and, for some reason, Floyd Patterson. You can bet if my mum's heard of them a great deal of other people have too because she is about as interested in boxing as I am in worm farming.

The golden age involving the first 3 must stand out in the public's mind.

I was talking to a guy a while back about boxing...Guy played safety or linebacker or something in college,was a really good athlete and everything...I started talking about Duran and JCC and he had no idea who the hell they were...He did know who Chris Eubank and Virgil Hill was though,which I thought was kinda weird.
