thats my top 5 after that its hard to say...but heres the rest of the top 10 that I would put down
6. Leonard
7. Duran
8. Louis
9. Julio Caesar Chavez
10. Frazier/ Marciano/ Robinson/ Holyfield...
What do you think the top 10 most famous boxers of all time are?
Now you could argue that Muhammad Ali eclipsed him as time went on and boxing faded from the premier sport to a niche sport..
Top 5 I'd say would be
-1. Ali/Dempsey
3. Rocky Marciano
4. Joe Louis
5.Sugar Ray Robinson
No matter how famous they get or how much money modern day fighters make, truth of the matter is they don't hold a candle to fighters that have fought in the golden ages.. Sad but true

If my Nana's heard of them, then the have to be famous.
"Do you know of any boxers Nana?"
"Oh yeah. Quite a few boxers used to come in the Legion when me and your Granddad had it."
"Famous ones?"
"No."
"Ever heard of any famous ones?"
"Yeah. That Ali, he used to talk too much. Tyson is his name? I didn't like him, he was like an animal. That young Pakistani lad, he's always on that The Paul O'Grady Show, handsome, nice smile."
"Amir Khan?"
"That's him. You're Mum used to like Alan Minter. Tony Sibson, was another one. Don Cockell, that's going back some. I can't think of anymore. Oh, that Irish boxer, he was only small, McGuigan. That's him. That's about it really. Your Granddad was one for the boxing. Noses squashed across their faces."
