Business first instead of fighting the best?: Peter Quilin

Just read an article Peter Quilin had posted about himself. It was a Q&A with a reporter named David Hopper. Im just going to copy and paste the meaningful Q&A's:

DH: I was told it’s been reported that Main Events reached out to you about a potential fight with Curtis Stephens in NYC. Is there a possibility that fight will happen this year?

PQ: Anybody with me is gonna be a big fight. It don’t matter who it is. People are going to want to see me fight regardless if I do good or bad. There are a lot of good names out there. Curtis is one of the few guys out there who I can actually pick a fight with and make a good showing out there. There’s Danny Jacobs, Matthew Macklin, Martin Murray. There’s all kind of names and good fights out there for me. Instead of just focusing on one guy you just got to be ready for any contender and every challenger. As a contender and a challenger you should just worry about getting to the champ and beating the champ. I don’t have a mind of a challenger right now I have the mind of a champion. That’s me focusing on my progression and my well-being and what I want to accomplish.

DH: You interact with fans on social media and I imagine you talk to fans a good bit at promotional events, weigh-ins and so forth. What are some of the most common questions you hear from fans? I would think ‘When will you fight Golovkin?’ would be near the top?

PQ: I definitely hear about GGG often. It’s really his fans. What boxing does is create these fans that can be very, very aggressive. I believe that could be for any sport but aggression is a little different for boxers because we always fight with that aggression in the ring. It’s not losing a game by points. It’s like losing a game by getting hit in your face. Know what I mean? That’s a hard thing to do. They ask about GGG. They ask me about when is my next fight. They ask me about when is the cold war between Showtime and HBO and why I don’t go to HBO. I’m like, ‘Why give up an opportunity?’ I fought one time on HBO and I’ve done been request to come back. It was on the undercard of Alfred Angulo vs. James Kirkland. I fought Craig McEwan and I stopped him. I put on my performance like I usually do. Now Showtime is putting on some exciting fights. It’s like the network. I’m making nice money. So why would I want to **** up my payday going to fight somebody just to prove to his fans whether or not I can beat him or not?

DH: Only had two fights last year and two in 2012. Plan to be busier this year? Has Golden Boy said how many times they would ideally like for you to fight this year?

PQ: If I had the opportunity to fight some of the guys that Gennady Golovkin is fighting then I would stay active. Right now I’m just looking for the best fights out there. That’s gonna help me put the stamp on my boxing career. I haven’t taken much punishment in 30 fights. I still got some longevity in the sport to be able to accomplish more. I just hope they make good fights for me. At the this stage I’m looking for good money. I’ve invested 9 and a half, almost 10 years of my life to this. If I do I put money away and I’m accomplishing the things that I want to do financially. I have a wife. I want to make sure that I put money away and I’m accomplishing the things that I want to do financially. I have a wife. I’m eventually going to have a family with her. I want to make sure I’m not struggling and another statistic about fighters who went broke after their career. I’m just really trying to be smart at this stage. I’m 30 years old. I’m not getting older. The only thing I can do at this stage is just be smart.

For fighters like Quillin, who simply aren't that good, fighting the best practically means losing business. So yea, we all know whats up here

First he mentions how he wants to fights the best and gives the names of Murray, Macklin, Jacobs lol. Then he answers his inactivity question stating if he had GGG opponents he would fight more often. Does he not know one of the two opponents he fought last year was a GGG leftover and so is Macklin, which he mentions as a possible opponent? This guy smh

This b*tch is fighting the fighters Golovkin fights, but doing so less often and worse.

"So why would I want to **** up my payday going to fight somebody just to prove to his fans whether or not I can beat him or not?" And this quote is horrible. Basically, make a few mediocre paydays rather than one good one where I get my ass whooped.

I cannot stand Quillin. He's such a fraud.

The guy that was ran over by GGG was on his way to beat this undercard champion before the fight was stopped due Rosado's injury.

Quillin is a joke and nobody except Jloro (who's a joke himself) cares about him.

When it really shouldn't have been either. Not that quick. Give Rosado some more time and see if he can keep fighting despite the cut. Instead they stopped it first chance they got.

Not surprising. GBP doesn't really have any titlists above 154 so they will keep forcefeeding him to casuals.

Such a mediocre fighter….unwilling to take any risk all while completely contradicting himself in the process. He's like 30 years old and has not faced an elite opponent yet gets to walk around as the middleweight champ. No wonder no one cares about this guy.
