sad to see especially given that he was training in andre ward's gym. he must have felt crime was only way to make money....im sure he could have made enough doing a job in the boxing gym to get enough money to eat and sleep.

        but sad to see, nevertheless.

SMH what a shame man! Wasting a second chance like he did.

He had a few things going for him too. 20 years of your life over some petty amount really.

I ran into him by accident like 4-5 days after he beat unbeaten at the time Alfred Ankama in Sun Valley Mall, Concord. The way I noticed him was the Ten Goose Jacket. He was from Antioch or Pittsburg, Ca. I talked with him for a few moments and told him I thought he would be a champ some day. With his multiple crimes, he is hopeless. He could have had an even better career than he did if he had stayed clean. That is the same mall where I met Roy Jones during the 88 box offs and Jones was wearing a Ray Leonard shirt and I noticed the shirt and did not know who Jones was and the guy next to him said that the guy was the next Ray Leonard and I almost laughed and the guy (Jones) said that Leonard was in town and was at the mall. So I turned on my TV to watch the Olympic box-offs and was shocked to see the guy from the mall (Jones) fighting. Next day I went to the Hilton to a lounge and saw Henry Tillman and I knew who he was and he told me Leonard, Holyfield, and the AM's were all there and that was when I met my favorite boxer of all time, Sugar Ray Leonard.........and others were there like Holyfield (I told him I think he has the style to beat Tyson) and all the AM's were there like Foster, Bowe, etc. Ray Leonard drew a picture of a glove and put a smiley inside and his signature inside the smiley....a lot of effort he made for the signature. Yeah I know I am going off the tangent but many guys I met stemmed from being at Sun Valley Mall on occasion.
