Some of these posts are totally off-base. Broner was overrated just by the level of opposition, he hadn't been tested (Malanaggi and Demarco) Okay....

Whereas, anargument can be made that Alvarez has been in some decent fights (not the best) but decent fights where he's been hit and has had shown some level of skill and witt. I think Alvarez is where he needs to be. I certainly don't think he's the BEST boxer ever. But I do think he's building his reputation and getting good names under his belt (this includes his afterschool session with PBF).

      It was clearly Alvarez

He was fighting unranked fighters from the same divisions as Broner!

Canelos win over Trout > any Broner win.

Maidana was supposed to be easy work, he ended up getting his ass kicked for 12 rounds

broner is probably barely in the top 10 now in his weight class.

          canelo is #2 JMW still.

Meanwhile Canelo won a vacant belt against a very undeserving Matt Hatton and defended it against a bunch of nobodies until he finally stepped up and fought Trout, which was a close fight
Both were overrated, but I think Broner had done more to earn the hype. I honestly think his team made a ****** move putting him in there with one of the hardest punchers at 147 right away
Both will still end up having great careers. Just watch
When was Litzau a champ? Oh, that's right, NEVER. Broner lost to Ponce De Leon, and arguably lost to Malignaggi. DeMarco is Broner's only decent win.

I don't see how you would count Litzau as legit for Broner, but not include Mosley, Cintron, and Baldomir on Canelo's resume. And Miguel Vazquez twice.

Canelo has to be the more overrated,,,, both are hype jobs, but canelo is getting put into a ppv main event after getting undressed by floyd

Neither has impressed me much in terms of being the next major superstar,, Fernando Vargas was a much better prospect than canelo

Broner hasnt headlined any ppv yet, let alone headlining one after an embarrassing loss

Canelo has the most hype of any up coming fighter, so it has to be Canelo

How can Canelo be overrated when his first legit loss is to the current #1 P4P, at 23 years of age no less?

Because of the massive hype,,, people proclaim him to be the next golden boy but in reality he is a poor version of fernando vargas...

Canelo has so much hype that its not fair to the kid,,,

Look at it this way,, cotto lost to floyd in a very competitive fight, and didnt headline a ppv even though he was ighting a tough guy like Trout. Canelo looked horrible vs floyd, yet he is headlining a ppv vs angulo

Canelo has such huge hype on him, it doesnt even compare to the hype on broner or ggg or lucas etc

It's Broner and it's not even close. Broner didn't really do jack and he gets pushed on the top 5 P4P list. He should of lost to De Leon and Malignaggi but it is what it is. Alvarez beating Trout is much better than beating anyone on Broner's resume(my opinion).
