Comments Thread For: Woodhouse Says Money Will Not Motivate More Fights

Curtis Woodhouse admits it will be hard to walk away from boxing after achieving his British title dream on Saturday night.

Woodhouse quit a lucrative career as a footballer to become a boxer and vowed to retire after challenging British champion Darren Hamilton, regardless of the result.

The 33-year-old had fallen short in previous title attempts and was written off ahead of his fight with Hamilton, but defied the odds by battling to a gruelling points triumph in Hull.

He's obviously made enough money to stay safe for the rest of his life - and in all honesty, he's not going to achieve more than he just did.

The fact that he beat Hamilton, who in my opinion is a much better fighter, is a very good achievement in itself. I doubt he'd do it again so retirement would be a good step for him.

He just won 250 grand so I can understand

Great story for Curtis. So happy for him.

It's amazing that as fans we criticize so many fights, but for Curtis his dream (That didn't seem realistic) was to simply be a British Champion.

And I'm sure he wasn't living off peanuts as a premiership footballer.

It's truly a great achievement and refreshing to see someone caring about the lonsdale belt.

Sort of like when a footballer says their dream is to win the FA Cup.

I think deep in his heart he knows this is the most he is capable of, someone mentioned a Khan fight, but that's far fetched and tbh Khan would obliterate him, as his chin is probably on par with Khans.

If he retires good on him he's done what he wanted.

He's sniffing around for a fight with Coyle, apparently he's coming up to light-welterweight.
