Lucas vs Keith - Is GBP trying to cash in on Matthysse?

If this is true and ends up happening, it would be Lucas' first fight at 147 against a guy who's fought at 154 recently

For fans this is a great fight, but for Lucas career going forward, how can you argue that this is a good move for him? Who's advising Lucas to take this fight, is it still Mario Arano?

This is a terrible move for Matthysse, I've always thought he's too small for 147 and would need to be matched properly to move up to that weight, at least for his first couple fights

Keith Thurman is considered by most on this forum to be one of the best fighters at 147/154, and would be fighting a guy who's noticably smaller than himself

IMO this is a cash-in move on GBP's part. How many fights does Lucas have left with GBP?

Your right, it would sadden be to see Lucas fight Thurman at 147, risk too high, even if Lucas won it would put mileage on him as Thurman can ****. Lucas best weight is 140 and if he can't make 140 he should ease into 147 with easier opposition than Thurman.

Thurman is good, but if his power doesnt bail him out he gets lost pretty much, Chaves was beating him, and karass was rocking his world.

Lucas lands anything flush on thurman and he is going down and staying down.

I was thinking the same. To be honest these KO artists eventually get outboxed and made to look ordinary. Secondly he doesn't speak English and his nationality is Argentinian so I really don't think Golden Boy is focused on making a star of him.

I think he has reached his potential as far as popularity goes where as the sky is the limit for someone like Keith Thurman.

People wanted him to fight Floyd prior to him losing to Danny...so I don't see why Thurman is a huge deal. Though personally I thought he wasn't as good as his hype and I think Thurman will beat him handily....we'll see though maybe lucas fits into 147 better than expected.....or he gets crushed...it'll be interesting to see.

Lucas was an unstoppable monster a year ago.

              Now he's a gatekeeper?

SMH.... Still a good 50/50 fight regardless and should be seen as such.

Is a winnable fight for Lucas- why wont you switch it around? Is GBP cashing out on Thurman? Because one guy has fought Chaves and Karrass and the other Peterson and Garcia. Lucas beats Thurman and we got a new opponent for Floyd instantly. Floyd would never fight Thurman, he doesn't fight too many black folks for promotional purposes it seems.

Who knows lucas might be stronger at 147. Feed him moar iguana meat and get ready to throw those pineapples. Interesting fight though.

because you can't ignore the size difference, that's why you don't switch it around

lucas is a natural 140lb fighter, his height, reach and overall size shows this
keith thurman is a big dude at 147 and can fight at 154 as he's shown already

also thurman isn't black, he's mixed
