Stevenson has made it clear he doesn't want none yet. The recently article I read made it clear that Kovalev struggled to pick an opponent just to stay busy. We should be happy he is fighting and not taking 6 months off a time like so many fighters seem to being moving toward.
    Happy to offer suggestions:

    - Obvious first choice would be to go straight to Stevenson fight. HBO shouldn't be paying for these meaningless, non-competitive showcase fights.

    - Chilemba was available before the Agnew fight was announced. Chilemba isn't great, but at least he's faced legit top-tier talent, which Agnew has not.

    - Same for Braehmer. He has a fight now, but he was available until recently. Much more legit than Agnew.

    - Karo Murat is more legit than Agnew. He went 12 rounds with B-Hop in a pretty entertaining fight. Also available.

Stevenson was called out, and has repeatedly said he doesn't want the fight. At least not yet.

The rest of the guys are no better then Agnew. At all.

          That was Floyd's 8th fight.

In Agnew's 25th fight - just 18 months ago - he fought a guy with a record of 21-39-2. In Agnew's 22nd fight, he fought a guy with a record of 8-25-4. Three fights before that, he fought a guy with a record of 8-35-3.

Agnew should not be fighting the best guy in the division on premium TV.

Stevenson made clear he's not interested in that fight next. All those other guys are retreads. They've failed at the championship level, and struggled at the fringe level. This guy may well fail, but why not give him a chance? We know what the other guys offer, not that much. Also, Braehmer is very unrealistic, especially given the likely budget for this card.

Not to mention the fact that almost one-third of Agnew's wins (8 of 26) have come against guys with 25 OR MORE LOSSES.

He even fought a guy with 60+ losses TWICE.

Agnew has the thinnest resume I've seen for a title challenger/HBO main event fighter in a loonnnggg time.

Kovalev does. I don't know about HBO. He and his promoter have been pushing for a Stevenson fight since August of last year.

But according to some, he doesn't deserve that opportunity (and then threads like this pop up) lol

Stevenson is scared to death of Kovalev and won't fight him. I suppose there are a few guys who are better than Agnew but, let's face it, not by much.

Disagree strongly. All of my suggestions have fought top-tier talent and have proven to be competitive.

Meanwhile, Agnew's last five fights have included guys with records of 13-14-2, 21-39-2, and 5-12-0.

he's killing time while he waits for a bigger fight
he's gotten loud on Stevenson already
he's not getting him yet, so he's gotta stay busy in the interim
no problem with this fight for that reason, don't know Agnew though
but it's not like Kovalev is choosing him instead of the main guy
