    I hope not.

Am really looking forward to this fight.

If it takes Gamboa doing it for cheap, he should do it. At least he'll be back in the mix if he can pull off the win (I think he can).

      first post

Being that the source is twitter, I'm just going to continue to go through my days as though both fighters actually want to fight each other. It helps me sleep at night. The mere thought of this fight falling through induces migraines.

Seriously though, this fight needs to happen. Personally, this is my second most anticipated fight behind the "unicorn"(May vs. Pac). Hell, I'd even pay for this fight. Glad I don't have to though.

Background Info on me (Pretty much useless info)
Hello, my name is Chris and I love boxing. Although, this is my first post, I've been reading these forums for years. Previously, I have intended to post an opinion or a comment but I would usually agree with another poster and change my mind. This site has taught me that there is so much more to boxing than I thought and I am happy to finally be part of the conversation.

I got into boxing by accident when I was in the 4th or 5th grade. I was flipping channels scanning for a my cartoons (I was a Fox Kid. Xmen etc) when I stopped on a replay of Holyfield vs. Bowe 2. Let's just say I asked for boxing gloves for Christmas that year.

I also have amateur boxing experience. I won a fight night bout(smoker), then I fought in the TX Golden Gloves in 2008 @ 152lbs. I went 2-1. Lost in the final on points. So, I sport a 3-1 amateur record. I tried to mimic Juan Manuel Marquez. Of course, I looked nothing like him in the ring haha.

My favorite fighters include: (in no particular order)
Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, Tito Trinidad, Roy Jones Jr., Shane Mosley, Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto, Sergio Martinez, Erislandy Lara, Rigo, Gamboa, JM Marquez.
AND...Floyd Mayweather Jr. I love to hate him. He provides boxing with a great villain and I anticipate his fights much like the Super Bowl.
I'm sure I'm missing a few people, anyway if you read this far then thanks, I appreciate it.

The tweet in the OP states Gamboa was offered more somehow.

T.S. should change the title to "What the f**k goes on in the minds of these Cubans?"

Welcome to the forums, Chris. The best advice I can give you is to let the Ignore function be your best friend. And fix yourself up with a nice avatar.

I love Mikey-Gamboa as a fight too, though not as much as, say, Adonis-Kovalev. It's just shy of truly mouth-watering but still an excellent fight, especially as Mikey has shown a few flaws recently. I think it'll happen because both fighters need it badly.

This isn't an HBO issue. This is a Top Rank contract issue.

TR is utilizing its usual strategy to leverage Mikey into signing an extension. They offer lowball s**t money if the fighter won't extend. The only way for the fighter to get market value, which is what he deserves, is if the fighter signs an extension.

That's how/why Gamboa is being offered more - not because Gamboa is worth more, but because Mikey is being lowballed in order to get him to sign an extension.

So Mikey is on his last TR fight? Seems easy enough, take a small time fight vs a bum, then head over to Showtime since TR is fcuking around with you like that.

But man, really strange of TR to offer all that money to Gamboa, who they have a grudge against, as Gamboa said himself

Top Rank have to offer Gamboa all that money because there are no viable Garcia opponents under the Top Rank banner...so they have to go outside the company and overpay.

And the problem with Mikey's contract is that TR won't let him fight a bum...so they hold him hostage until he re-signs.

it's tiring hearing this garbage about fighters all the time
Gamboa isn't really a star anymore anyway
ok fight, but not crazy about it, fine if it doesn't happen
but balking over the money is becoming a wack boxing cliche

I just listened to the gamboa-garcia bit from the podcast in reference. I originally thought it was a Gamboa interview, but it was just one of the hosts saying Gamboa was offered more than Garcia. I'm almost positive he was just basing it off that Garcia tweet and confused "asking for" with "offered". I doubt there's any inside info there.
