In response, perhaps I phrased that wrong: the headbutt was a contributing factor in the first KD. We all know how Wladimir reacts when he's floored - he panics - and only under Steward's tutorage did he find a way to negate that problem.
It wasn't guided towards you personally, I've seen other people mention that before - and I've shot it down everytime.

It just seems that there's an excuse for every Wlad loss, that his followers quickly brush under the carpet, whereas it is catastrophic for Joe Frazier to lose to George Foreman. I just don't understand that logic.

It might have been a contributing factor. And I won't deny that Wlad would probably beat Sanders 9/10 times - but for some reason he just wasn't there that night.

According to himself, he was on vacation in his mind.

The Brewster 'poisoning' excuse is ridiculous.

I'm not sure where I would place Wlad on an ATG list; i'll decide when he retires and we see the next generation of heavies.

He's a top 15 ATG heavyweight - and that's not bad company to be in.

hes not top 5. top 10 arguably imo. there's no way,, with his resume,, that he belongs in the elite top5 tho. hes had a good string of defenses but lacks the names to put him that high and hes quickly running out of time

He's not running out of time. He's got a few good years left to add to his resume. When he's done, you might yourself end up acknowledging him as top 5.

There's no names out there good enough to put him in top 5.

I struggle to think of any division who has a top 5 member without a single HOF or ATG win or even a fight against them.

There's simply no logical base to put him there, other than you fans who want to believe that beating up the likes of Pianeta and Leapai, and hugging your way to victory is top 5 worthy.

good post brotha, i agree completely.

i'm not sure there's anyone out there for him atm that he could beat over hist last few fights to propel him up to top 10. although i think as time passes wlad could become a top 10 heavy possibly in our minds

the frustrating thing is hes been wasting his prime years against guys like pianetta,,mormeck and leapai. I know its mostly not his fault but it is what it is. I also think he showed signs of regressing in his last fight with povetkin. now,,,,he may go on to beat guys like pulev,,,fury and wilder but even if he does its not good enough to put him up in the top 5. hes a victim of a bad era
