It actually surprises me the amount of people picking Cotto. I thought this was an easy call for Martinez. Can't wait!

When you are super loyal to a fighter, you look for anything in the fighter's favor and tend to overlook the negatives.

You think cotto can beat pavlik and Williams at middleweight lol. Cotto couldn't beat Austin trout at 154 and he also should of lost to clottey at 147 (gift decision)

Cotto might have a chance, I'm only saying that because Martinez is saying it still hurts to walk, hasn't run a year and he's icing all the time.

Martinez has all the advantages but if his knee blows out he won't be fighting. remember Cotto vs Foreman.

that's great news for Cotto fans not so much so for Martinez

No. I think cotto would have beaten williams at any point. Pavliks is really light heavy. Im saying P4P Cotto is a better fighter than both those guys

Foreman's knee had 0 to do with Cotto dominating him.

this is a bad fight for cotto, he should have fought quillin instead or waited for someone like bradley at a catchweight

I'm sorry but i like Cottos chances less an less the lower he fights P Will at... At 147 I feel P Will is the worst matchup for him outside a southpaw with skills. At 147... Outside of maybe Floyd (due to his skills) it's hard to come up with any current 147/former 147 pounder (im talking this gen/the one ending with Floyd, Pac, Cotto) beating P will there. His dimensions and work rate/power and chin were ******ed. Sure he didnt fight big but even his version of "small" was longer than most and whats very important is that you couldnt really get away from him because he would just extend the punch and stick catch you. P Will was unfortunately born in the wrong era... We could have seen how great he was 7-8 years earlier (or more) when dudes would fight you no matter how dangerous. Shane, Tito, and Oscar were proud enough to have fought him way back when not to mention the generation before, etc.

Look, I'm not saying Cotto CANT beat P Will but if I envision each on their A Game the style favors p will at 147... 154 and 160 for obvious reasons favors him due to that not being Cottos weight but 147 P Will was scary.

this should be a nice change of pace fighting someone smaller, shorter, weaker, and fatter than his usual opponents. and it's the biggest purse of his career? win/win no wonder he let cotto win the negotiations and have whatever he wanted.
