Even though i like the dude but for someone who thinks hes a straight shooter i cant help but notice these inconsistencies:

1) slams GBP after Juan Diaz, Signs with them

2) slams Wild Card for roids, Trains there

3) slams Haymon, sign with him

forgot... I still think with Haymon around he'll be asking for way too much for a fight to actually happen. maybe no Hopkins on Showtime but Stevenson will be asking for a lot if he has to face Kovalev you can bet on it

Stevenson is 36 and wants two easy defenses to cash in and then face Kovalev to maximize his career earnings cuz its a hard fight. Chavez had to have his back against the wall to face Martinez.

Atleast Stevenson KOed the Lineal Champ for his strap and not cuz the sanctioning body head was his godfather. hint hint

Nah..and that's fair enough, and in some ways this is potentially positive... as I pointed out in my (amended) post this may be a good move for Stevenson. Potentially by going with Haymon it actually makes the dreamed of LHW Unification possible.

My initial reaction was that Stevenson might try to avoid the Kovalev fight in order to aim for the Hopkins / Shumenov winner, but with a little thought I guess this could open the doors for the fights we all want to see.

Well evidently he has a three fight HBO deal. EIther I never knew that or forgot it at one point.

Also, if the fight weren't to happen after extensive talks from both sides, even yielding a date for later this year.... we'll know why it never happened
