I just read up there somewhere that Meldrick Taylor was 'exposed' in his KO loss to Chavez.

Exposed? That fight showed the exquisite talent and pure heart that was inside of Taylor. Exposed by winning the majority of the rounds against the P4P best fighter of the era before being stopped in the final seconds of the bout?

Meldrick Taylor was never exposed, he lost to a solid, extremely formidable and highly skilled fighter on that night.

The statements by that person are the only things that exposed anybody. Meldrick Taylor fought brilliantly that night against Chavez.

Now you can say that Taylor took a beating that forever changed him that night, but the only thing that was exposed that night was that Meldrick Taylor was human.................Rockin'

Lucas Matthysse was simply lied to by his team, fans/cult, media/Showtime. They lied to the poor guy, he went in there and got his ass handed to him. Talking about "Matthysse TKO3-6"...my ass. Underrated is one thing, but people had him losing to Khan and Matthysse and he beat them both up. Garcia is a straight up top 10 P4P fighter, forget about underrated.

People on this site think that losing one or two fights means your past prime.

He is not the star he thinks he is. Ponce, Pauli, and Maidana proved that emphatically. About Billions thought he was a superstar and tried to live the lifestyle and he wasn't even a star, let alone a superstar. It was a pleasure watching the prick get his a$$ handed to him. I'll enjoy seeing it happen again someday. He made racial slurs, filmed himself flushing money which could have fed needy people, filmed himself taking a sht, bit a security guard, seen slurping on a dancer in public, showed up over weight at a fight and not only did he not apologize, he didn't try to make the weight on a second try a couple years back, against Maidana he left the ring not before the decision but after the decision was announced, pulled that drama queen bit with the headbutt, acted like his sht didn't stink. Pure joy watching Maidana punk him.

You would know, since how you are so sensitive when it comes to GGG. You asked a question and I gave you an answer. Nothing to do with love or hate in my original post, you on the other hand has shown nothing but hate toward fighters from Mayweather downwards, I don't hate the guy I guy his fanatics like yourself that's all... And I attack his fanatics by using their little logics against them, something that irritates and gets you lot mad.

I agree with those who say a fighter who beats lots of lower-tier opponents, but then gets decimated whe he steps up to a real contender is "exposed". The exposure is proven if after that first defeat, fighters on a similar higher level continue to beat the "exposed" fighter. However, it doesn't always have to be about that. It could be a certain style and/or mentality that exposes a fighter. What is exposed is a weakness or kink in one's armour. Tyson was "the baddest man on the planet", yet Buster Douglas exposed him by fighting tall and superbly boxing. He was also unafraid of Tyson. Tyson's biggest ally after his power and skill was instilling fear in his opponents. Most of them had already lost before even getting into the ring. Holyfield and Lewis used a similar formula to Douglas in defeating Tyson. Of course, not everyone had the tools to beat even an unfocused Iron Mike. Victor Ortiz was exposed, first by Marcos Maidana, Josesito Lopez and recently Luis Collazo (that crap w/Mayweather doesn't count). Ortiz tries to impose his will on his opponents in an almost bullying manner, but if they show no fear and fight back hard, he backs off, which leaves him vulnerable.

Lucas is a good example, he lost a tough fight....as a fighter he wasn't exposed but his hype was. People gave him an aura of invincibility....even though he'd already lost.....regardless exposed usually has more to do with hype than the fighter.
IDK...in my opinion the term is kinda ridiculous (or at least ridiculously overused) - as are most of the negative statements used about fighters on boxing forums. They generally have no other aim than provoking hostility or bitterness in fans of fighters so called.

As you (indirectly) point out it's not the fighter that any detractors wish to prove as being exposed, but fans who have made claims on their behalf. Apparently many of us take pleasure in feeling that we've somehow beaten or humbled those who disagree with us. Bit sad really.

Make no mistakes, Broner has sold himself well as a "bad guy type." I loved the Maidana beatdown and hate the flushing of hard earned money. He lost but not sure that he was "exposed" by losing one fight to a world class fighter. In fact, he showed me personally in this lost then almost all of his wins combined by getting up and having a chance to win.

Wilder & Fury will most likely be on the exposed list by the end of the year.
