If you are going to take on the biggest challenges and fight the best then, with the odd exception, you're going to pick up losses along the way. The margins are the top level are slim.

People make such a big deal about the "0". We're seeing some very good matchups in recent times. Someone is going to lose, but they should be respected for taking on the challenges.

The guys you mentioned weren't exposed. Bute is an example of someone who was exposed by his 1st loss.

When a fighter acts and presumably claims to be great as well as showcasing skills that can only be efficiently utilized on lesser opponents and upon upping their game by taking on a fighter by 'theory' they can beat and end up losing in embarrassing fashion - that my friend is a prime example of what exposed means!

When Lucas lost it was the "eye" doe! If GGG ever loses it would be "The refs" etc certain fighters with undefeated records are not tagged with the "He got exposed" line, those fighters are power punchers, but when a "Runner or mover" loses then he got "Exposed"..

Your obsession with Golovkin downright creepy. How you bring an undefeated fighter who's easily beaten everyone into this thread is beyond me

It's fair, if he fights a top level guy and loses easily he could hit this moniker. Exposed isn't losing to a top guy, but getting blown out in your first major step up....or having a hype far beyond belief the hype was exposed.

Lucas is a good example, he lost a tough fight....as a fighter he wasn't exposed but his hype was. People gave him an aura of invincibility....even though he'd already lost.....regardless exposed usually has more to do with hype than the fighter.

He is a power puncher, he is undefeated and he is a name. So yes he fits my argument, don't be too sensitive.

i actually think some people dont even know the meaning of the word, like they think exposed is another word for losing your 0 or some ****, because some of the fights people apply it to makes no other sense.

to be fair this isnt a new thing, people said louis was all hype when he lost to schmeling, people said it countless times about ali when he struggled with doug jones, got dropped by henry cooper etc.

basically any time a fighter looks less than spectacular their haters jump on the chance to discredit them. they just arent man enough to give credit when credit is due, they let their emotions get the better of them like bitter females. so when a fighter takes a L or just looks less than spectacular they exaggerate it to the point where its just ridiculous.

that depends. 1 loss doesn't necessarily mean a fighter's been exposed. in boxing, one punch can change the course of an entire fight. for all we know it was just a lucky punch. but one thing is for sure, you are only as good as your last fight

Those are examples of a guy not being ready for top level

Mares has a proven track record, so a loss for him doesn't hurt him as bad, same with donaire,,, we knows these guys are legit,,,
I agree with this. In fact something needs to be said for fighters who rebound from devastating losses. Hearns came back after the SRL and Hagler defeats and beat good to great fighters. Barrera came back from the Junior Jones losses.

When you have not tasted defeat there has to be a certain confidence about you that is not quite the same after a loss. I'd like to hear from fighters and how they felt after that first loss.
