It may not always be the most exciting to watch but Vazquez is very awkward and tough to clearly beat when he is placing clean counters and moving away from offense running opponents into punches making them look foolish.

Most definitely. I don't think Shafikov is as good as everybody else does and feel Vasquez style is all kinds of wrong for him. He is going to have a horrible time closing the distance. Vasquez despite his lack of power is a very intelligent pure boxer who really knows how to use his length.
Shafikov to me is a good fighter but one who has an identity crisis and is unsure of his own style. One minute he is a brawler the next hes on the outside expending a lot of energy with a load of wasted movement cluelessly looking to try counterpunch and giving rounds away.
A small flat-footed guy who fights extremely small and tends to follow guys in straight lines. I can't see him winning outside of a bad decision.

Vazquez is good but not great.Last edited by Wizardsh; 02-17-2014, 10:41 PM.

If I had to name the fighter I hate the most, it would be Vazquez. He is the embodiment of the type I loathe the most: the fake "most avoided fighter". He keeps turning down and backing out of big fights, yet it's somehow everyone else that's ducking him and not the other way around.
And him beating Shafikov won't change my opinion of him in any way.

Miguel Vazquez is a true boxing legend. He is an elite boxer and is capable of beating anyone at 135 pounds, remember Mercito Gesta, how everyone hyped him up to easily beat Vazquez, well look what happened to him. Look what happened to unbeaten Lenny Zappavigna, look what happened to Bredis Prescott... and take a look at what is going to happen to Shafikov, another unbeaten record is about to be smashed to pieces. God Bless Titere Vazquez! The best lightweight champion in the world right now.
