Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia Bout Eyed For June, With or Without Gamboa

I love how fans can read a few random quotes and feel as if they are experts in the negotiation process.
Truth is, none of us know who Mikey is fighting in June, but I have no problem with him saying "Gamboa, I'm fighting with our without you." ...Should any fighter put their career on hold for another fighter? ..especially if that fighter has made very questionable decisions over the past few years.
Neither Mikey, no Yuri need each other, but as I fan I hope they do find one another, and quick.
As for the Yuri comparisons to Rigo...I would have accepted it 3 or 4 years ago...and maybe it will be valid after a possible victory over Mikey, or another top level fighter, but as for now, he has more to prove than Mikey and is no longer the guy calling the shots...how bad both fighters want this is yet to be determined, anyone who feels otherwise in speaking from pure biasness.

Garcia-Gamboa Fight Happens If Garcia Wants It To Happen!
Nobody wants to fight Gamboa. Gamboa called out Boner and he leaves the division, but prior to fighting Maidana, Boner brags to Arum he can still fight at '30-'35. So it wasn't trouble making weight for why he won't fight Gamboa. Rios went up in weight and wouldn't fight Gamboa. Now Garcia is playing negotiation games while not getting Gamboa signed. Man up and fight Gamboa someone.

I'd like to know what kind of money Gamboa is expecting. Once we know that everyone could assess the situation better.
Let's say Top Rank/HBO is willing to fork out a million dollars for the fight. And we'll say Garcia gets $750,000 and Gamboa gets $250,000. If Team Gamboa accepts something like that and Team Garcia doesn't then I'd put 100% of the blame on Team Garcia.
I think Gamboa's history with Top Rank complicates things a lot though. Top Rank might not feel comfortable risking one of their cash cows with someone they have a bad history with, and would rather just throw Garcia in with someone like Diego Magdaleno who will probably take similar money to what Burgos got. Cheaper fight, and the hype train keeps going. Who knows, maybe Robert and Mikey really are scared of Gamboa. At this point it's too soon to be calling them "duckers" though.

Should be reasonable..
... some forget to admit who is Garcia going to fight that will bring as much buzz as even an inactive and "less than stellar" Gamboa?
If not Gamboa, Garcia and his team have the full right to continue fighting stiffs for another 2 years.
