I don't have an exact figure, but I would imagine it's at least 100. That's a pretty good question, but I really don't know. I'm sure some of the hardcore historians here could give you a more accurate figure than me. You've got to take into account that there are a lot of up-and-comers around that have yet to be truly tested or knocked down. As far as retired fighters, I would estimate close to 100, but like I said, I'm not positive about that. -
no, he was implying that everyone fighter can get hit clean and go down.Originally posted by .:BLOODSHED:.You ****** ass. He was implying that every fighter chin is fragile like Wlad's. THAT IS NOT THE CASE. MAYWEATHER HAS NEVER BEEN DOWN.Comment

I'd like to know the answer to that, if there were some criteria put on the question. E.g., limit it to fighters who fought for or held titles, or something like that so we know we are talking about guys who took shots from real punchers and still never went down. I agree that the number is probably not so small.Comment

Vitali is certainly not an all-time great because he had only one really big fight and lost it. However he may have another distinction. Correct me if I'm wrong. Although he lost twice, as far as I know he was never knocked down and never behind on cards. A wierd distinction that does not mean he was great.Originally posted by DIEGO DA HITMANThere are a lot of guys that've never been knocked down. There are many current guys like Jose Luis Castillo that've never been down, and throughout history there have been, I'd say, hundreds of guys. So, while that's impressive, it's not unique. Vitaly isn't going down as an all-time great, and he's the better of the two. If anyone claims that Vitaly is an all-time great, they know nothing about the sport.Comment

Interesting... I konw he was up on Byrd when he was forced to retire from the match, and to the best of my knowledge he was up on the judges' cards against Lennox. I believe you're right. He was up 58-56 on all 3 cards against Lewis, and the only time he was down before knocking out an opponent was after he lost the first round to the "ever dangerous" Herbie Hyde, then KO'd him in Rd. 2. Good call.Originally posted by kayjayVitali is certainly not an all-time great because he had only one really big fight and lost it. However he may have another distinction. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks. I was at Boxrec too looking for the same thing. Unfortunately, they only give scores for some fights, so who knows if there were others. I'm glad to see the K's listed in the 120's, which shows that questions like this are pretty much nonsense. I say that as a fan of them.Comment

I don't think he established himself well enough into the boxing world before he went on his losing streak.Comment
