Mosley does indeed have a big right hand but not a bigger right hand than Marcos Maidana.

I have studied tape on Shane Mosley and Marcos Maidana -- two of my favorite sluggers.

Mosley has a big right hand if he lands it on the button.

On the other hand, Maidana has a big right hand, period. Chino does not have to land clean to wobble an opponent.



Maidana wobbles Adrien Broner with an awkward right hand to the side of the head.


Maidana rocks Josesito Lopez so badly with a right hand he turns his back to Maidana. How often do you see that happen?


Maidana knocks down Victor Cayo with an awkward left hook to the side of the head.


These punches are by design. Maidana knows very well what he's doing. His style may not be pretty, but he is effective, i.e. he finds a way to land punches on his opponent. And that's what boxing is all about.

Maidana punches freakishly hard. His opponents react to his punches as if they got hit with a baseball bat. They have a look of surprise like "What the **** did you hit me with?!"

Cayo, Lopez and Broner are nothing compared to Margarito, Vargas and Mayorga, brutal stoppages.

I never said Mosley wasn't a big puncher. He certainly is! But he has something Maidana does not: fast-twitch muscle fibers.

Also, Maidana stopped Jesus Soto Karass who fights like Antonio Margarito. Maidana knocked him out with the slow muscle fibers, timing, and speed.

Mosley and Maidana both have speed. Mosley has the natural speed that comes from his genetics, whereas Maidana has a different kind of speed. Unlike Mosley, Maidana's speed comes from hustle, timing, untelegraphed movements, and awkward fighting rhythm.

As for Fernando Vargas and Ricardo Mayorga, Vargas was chinny ever since the Trinidad beatdown. And El Matador is just a psycho wild man. He gives his opponents free shots in hopes of luring them into a brawl. It only worked against one guy, Vernon Forrest. It was an anomaly, really.

Maidana, punches are also telegraphed, they come from a long way back, easy to spot for Floyd. He throws a lot of wide punches that leave him open to punches straight down the middle. Morales had huge success with this, what will Floyd do?

Not sure if you are looking for an actual answer but he couldnt get khan because khan skates well also maidana was so eager to get in on khan he was smothering himself and not getting his shots off well. He wasnt setting up his shots and he wasnt in peak shape either. The liver shot in the beginning took alot out of him for the rest of the fight as well. Cortez was also keeping maidana from fighting with one hand free most of the time.

one thing ive noticed about Maidana now is he sets up his shots better which allows him more leverage on his shots ..this is all a gain frim improved technique..

But that's besides point. All that matters is Shane Mosley -- a man whose opinion matters more than a run-of-the-mill fan -- said that Marcos Maidana would give Floyd Mayweather problems by punching untraditionally. Something I've been saying for a while now.

Mosley also said that he wouldn't be surprised if Amir Khan couldn't land punches on Mayweather, because Khan punches traditionally and Mayweather is a expert at rolling traditional punches.

I agree with Sugar Shane.

Mayweather is not an expert at rolling awkward punches. No one is.

I think Maidana hits Floyd Jr. with something ******, and all the naysayers who wrote off the Argentine puncher -- mislabeling him as flat footed, wide, slow -- will say, "Oh ****!" and then, "This wasn't supposed to happened."

Floyd Mayweather has said, on more than one occasion, that he doesn't want to take punishment in his boxing matches.

Marcos Maidana is the wrong opponent if you don't want to take punishment.
