Comments Thread For: Povetkin Inks Contract With Ryabinsky, Eyes May Return

Former world heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin (26-1, 18KOs), 34-years-old, has signed a promotional contract with powerful Russian businessman Andrei Ryabinsky, who continues to build his "World of Boxing" stable. He recently signed up Denis Lebdev, Grigory Drozd and Rakhim Chakhkiev.

The Olympic gold medal winner has been out of the ring since losing a twelve round unanimous decision to WBO/IBF/IBO/WBA heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko last October. Ryabinsky, along with Vladimir Hryunov, put down over $20 million dollars to secure the promotional rights to that fight.

i wonder if he will take the chisora fight? povetkin is past the point of needing a tomato can so let's get it on. although it wouldn't surprise me if he takes on kevin Johnson. he seems like the new monte barrett type gatekeeper. will fight anyone on short notice but usually comes up short. pretty safe fight for sasha. rematch with huck or chambers? howabout adamek? i'm interested to see who he fights...

Adamek is fighting next month so that isn't possible but Huck has been talking about moving up again a rematch with Sasha would be great. I would love to see Huck against Chisora or Fury and Povetkin too.

There's no way Frank Warren will let Chisora fight Povetkin.

              Too dangerous.

I don't understand the incentive for Chisora, is there a big payday with Povetkin?

With that russian backing him the paycheck could be nice.
