Comments Thread For: Erislandy Lara: Canelo Fight Will Happen Sooner or Later

WBA interim-junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara (19-1-2, 12KOs) believes a fight with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-1-1, 30KOs) will happen at some point in the future.

Canelo is facing countryman Alfredo Angulo on March 8th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Lara does not have a scheduled return, but there have been rumors of former champion Ishe Smith as being a possible opponent.

    Sounds about right.
The question is will Lara wait around until this fights conclusion and then decide who to fight, or take on a challenge now. I would love to see him against fellow Cuban Quillin.

Ishe Smith? So that he can be criticized for being boring? Even tho he was the one carrying Trout.

Quillin better stay away from Lara, Rosado exposed him. Ronnie shields has Lara fighting more aggressive and he is ready to step up to middleweight quillin's reign at the top will be short like leperchan shyt.

Lara would know it's not a smart move to overlook Angulo...

Lara never overlooked Angulo. He came into that fight in tip top shape or else he wouldnt had gotten up from the KDs.

And why is GB matching Lara vs losing fighters? Not that I thought Trout lost to Canelo or anything but still.

I'm not saying he overlooked him, I'm saying he knows from experience how tough a fight he can be
