I've been following Collazo's career since he fought Ricky Hatton.

I encourage you and others to watch Thurman's fight against Zaveck. This guy makes a lot of bad amateur mistakes when he punches. He also punches very flashy but notice they don't land with much effect, Collazo is a much shorter, accurate puncher. He hasn't fought anybody of note, tell me who he's beaten to have this status?

I still have no idea why Thurman is hyped as much as he is. Collazo could undress this kid. I wouldnt be shocked at all.

People are seriously thinking WAY too much about Collazo stopping Victor Ortiz.

Thurman wins handily and probably stops Collazo.

I say Collazo lands a lot of short, accurate punches in the fight and might be able to KO Thurman.

I think it's a great fight. I don't think Collazo will have an easy time, but I think IF he wins, it would be off his back foot countering Thurman. Collazo is a really good boxer. Thurman does make many mistakes understandly so - he's not elite yet. IMHO, while I wouldn't be surprised of a Collazo victory, but I wouldn't be surprised of a Thurman victory. Personally, I'm struggling to limit the praise for Thurman, I think he's a solid fighter and will continue to learn and grow. But I also have respect for Collazo and his career - never overlook him.

Ill bite even if we follow the logic of comparing him to Berto lets not forget Berto was able to outhustle Collazo to a controversial decision. Collazo is skilled and tricky enough to make things very difficult for Thurman if he shows up in tip top shape. I feel Thurman has a higher ring IQ than Berto and has an ability to adjust to whats in front of him. Part of the reason he got wild against Zaveck is because he was selling out at points to get the stoppage. It could mean he wasn't worried about Zavecks return fire as much late in the fight. When he felt power against Chavez & Karass he adjusted and boxed instead of getting wild. He is a much more well rounded fighter than Berto. Still he hasn't fought anyone with the resume and experience of a Collazo. Collazo's achilles heel is he can be outhustled in the judges eyes by a come forward fighter because he often doesn't win rounds authoritatively. I got Thurman winning a close fight with his aggressiveness. Its a very competitive fight that should be made.

great post. look Chavez showed himself to be a real fighter against Thurman. He has real power and would put some of the names at welter to sleep. Anyone that saw that fight saw Chavez would give these guys hell if he gets an opportunity. Thurman is fighting tough fights even if he isn't getting the opportunity to fight the names. He has taken high risk low reward fights and has come out on top every time

I think it would be a good test for Thurman.

No, this has nothing to do with Collazo stopping Ortiz. I was expecting it, I didn't think it would come so early though, and in the manner it did. Thurman makes A LOT of the same mistakes Ortiz made in that moment, perhaps even more often.

Thurman would probably beat those guys, maybe Guerrrero could make it close.
