Man Mares is one tough guy. He's a real champion. I wish him the best.

Also, Mares did not duck a rematch with Gonzalez either. He wanted the fight for May but Gonzalez didn't want to wait that long to fight (rightfully so on Gonzalez's part too). They both made decisions that were best for them. I hope they will meet again in the future though.

Props to Mares for having plenty of balls but going up again? Really he belongs at 118.

Mares is ****ing crazy. This is a more dangerous fight than a rematch with Gonzalez. It's a huge gamble, but would be a great accomplishment if he can pull it off. Mares is small for 126, he doesn't belong at 130 and has done nothing to deserve a shot at Miura. He hasn't even fought at 130 yet and is coming off a ko loss, wtf.

I'd rather see Uchiyama Miura II and Gonzalez Mares II. It would be cool to see the winners face each other but I hope this fight doesn't get made.

First of all, I don't think Abner Mares deserves a shot at a title at 130 coming off of a K.O. loss at 126. If Mares vs. Miura does go down then good for Miura because I'm sure he'll get a nice little payday. I'll be riding with my boy Mares, but I think he'll have to box his a$$ off to beat Miura. If he tries to slug it out he gets slaughtered.

If Mares somehow pulls off a victory against Miura, then maybe Mares vs. Gonzalez II can be at a C.W. of 128 for the W.B.C. titles at 126 and 130. Gonzalez said he's moving up to 130 later this year anyways.

Where's the criticism coming from? The guy is moving up in weight and fighting a much bigger guy. It's not like he's going down to 122 and fighting a tune up.

What's even funnier is those who are demanding a rematch with a guy who KOd him in 1 round, but turn around and say Matthysse needs to work his way back into a rematch with Garcia after a hard fought 12 round battle. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to Mares get his revenge but the inconsistencies here are amazing.
