  • You're right. The Murray fight troubles were due to several factors. First and foremost, I think his ego was running a bit too high especially fighting in Argentina and he forgot to use distance like he usually does. He was coming off a handful of KO and destroying a much bigger fighter; he was boxing Murray at too short a distance and that perpetuated his body's problems along with the rain.

    • If Martinez doesn't go old in one night worse than he did against Murray he stops Cotto late for sure.

I thought Martinez fought Murray at too far a distance. He didn't stand his ground enough. He almost exclusively potshotted from the outside where it was very difficult to land. In the 11th and 12th, when Martinez pressed forward and threw combinations, he had some of his best moments of the fight. And of course, we can't forget Martinez had a torn meniscus in that fight.

        • Martinez would look good early but after 6 rounds he's going to get his @ss whipped.

          • If he can make cotto to fight in the distance then he will win but Cotto will try to connect with his body punches early so Cotto also has a chance of winning.

            • I mean i understand some of you are trolling, some are just desperate fanboys, but come on.. Cotto is a good fighter, he was good at WW but he was kinda bad at LMW, lost to Trout and only won against friggin Yuri Foreman and 28-6 Delvin Rodriguez, he didnt fight any tough guys at 154 except Trout and Mayweather who he lost to. He is kinda short and has short arms for LMW, at MW against Sergio he will probably put up a good fight for 2 rounds and then gets beaten up by Sergio with his long arms and weird angles.

If SM actually fights GGG after that hats off to him, i wish him the best, Sergio is one of my favourite fighters out there, he will give GGG a very good fight but will take so much punishment and taken out in the later rounds. Anyway looking forward to this fight, this will hopefully shut alot of haters up.

              • You Guys Should Be Drug Tested; Sergio Is Not Stopping Cotto, Let Alone Beat Him!

I find it do funny to read some of you idiots living in the past with Amir Khan and what a challenge he still proposes Floyd, why he's a better choice than Maidana. Or you idiots that think a 40 year old, drug tested Juan Manuel Marquez would out box Provo or Pacquiao still, or this rehabilitated from a plethora of injuries, 40 year old Sergio Martinez would stop Miguel Cotto, let alone beat him. You clowns keep talking about these guys as though they are 28 years old and in their prime. As though they have chins of granite, youthful legs, blazing hand speed with power as though they arein their prime now. What the hell is wrong with you clowns living in fantasyland, betting with your heart, not common sense. The same guys thought both Curtis Stevens and Brandon Rios were killers and were going to expose Gennady & Pacquiao. And then the same guys come out after the results were in saying "oh everyone knew Stevens & Rios were over-rated, b-level fighters at best". Make up your minds and be a man and own it when you guess wrong. And you're about to be grossly mistaken again when Cotto more youthful than Sergio and drums his azz; the Trout/Cotto fight is no reflection on this outcome. Trout was young, massive, the size of a Lt Heavyweight, and very awkward; fought the fight of his life. Sergio won't present those same problems, standing in front of Cotto with his hands down at 40 yrs old . Marquez has no ballz to get in the ring with Provo and will orchestrate a great excuse why he doesn't need to fight Provo. Amir Khan hasn't been credible since 2010. Don't bet with your heart, use some common sense.

                  • Some people think he's getting it from Golovkin no matter what so it's in his best interests to put off and make as much as he can. I don't buy it. I think he could still be the best middleweight out there and the sooner he gets Golovkin the more of a chance he has to prove it.

                    • Martinez vs Cotto

Martinez is much stronger than Cotto and he has power, I see Sergio Knocking Cotto out in the first four rounds. If Cotto survives the first four, then he will be punished for the rest of the fight. When Chavez Jr. fought Sergio, he entered the ring as a light heavyweight and he couldn't knock out Martinez. On fight night, Cotto is going to be smaller and lighter than Martinez and it will be his first fight at middleweight. I really cannot see how Cotto could create problems for Sergio.
