Floyd will be taking a hit on both Maidana and Khan fights

GBP wants to cash out with Khan, and get the Broner rematch for Maidana and then cash out with Maidana in September

Khan bring in some £££, 12£ a month for boxnation, 24£ sign up fee for new customers, they just increased their prices, i got an email today. A additonal 12£ if u want to stream, boxnation online

Khan will help fill seats and indeed brings an international appeal to the fight. But the illusion that he has a substantial PPV following is, well, an illusion.

The poll is just a PR scam.
Sky PPV will pick this up for sure, not Boxnation. I don't know why you guys assume it will be Boxnation.

If the fight bombs in the UK it will do 500k buys. That is worst case scenario, my educated guess going by past fights is that it will do 800k-1m. Hatton-Mayweather did over a million on Sky box office. This with the right hype will do close to that figure, Mayweather is a lot more popular now then he was in 2007, in both the US and the UK, and Khan no matter his recent form is a household name in the UK. lets say the fight does 700k to be on the pessimistic side, it will still generate approximately £11 million ($16million). That type of revenue just can't be ignored no matter how you look at it. Plus the broadcasters (Sky) don't take as big a cut as they do in the US, where I believe HBO takes 50% of the ppv revenue.

I'm not downplaying it, I'm just saying its not the driver

While 16 million is a factor its not substantial--the live gate surpasses that amount. We aren't talking about game-changing money. I don't think it influences Haymon/Floyd very much when they model out earnings/risk for potential opponents.

HBO doesn't take 50% of the revenue, the cable carriers do. Distributors (HBO) typically get up to 10% and they sometimes pay to rebroadcast the week later.

the poll was a ridiculous gimmick to try and get attention and take attention away from the tim/manny initial presser. They got Khan to sign early and have locked him into a fee.

They will likely go to Maidana and say look-here is what Khan has signed for-if you take less you will get fight.

FRankly, I think Ortiz getting KTFO is the reason they had to go with the poll anyway. Had vic won, especially impressively, I'm sure they'd have floyd vic 2, which is just as ****ty as a khan fight.

Business wise, would it make more sense to make the Maidana fight based on the other polls since more people voted, meaning more people are interested and possibly buy the PPV? And how does boxnation pay for the fights (assuming most of Khan's fans will watch it here)? Don't they televise even the PPV events on regular TV?
On an objective site ESPN has Maidana way up. This whole thing was BS. Floyd just needed justification to fight Khan.
