        Hyping him up.

You don't beat up c class fighters like Lopez and Broner, and jump up to fight the p4p, #1 fighter in the sport.

It's the network battle that has people thinking he's the "one".

Overhyping him how he keeps winning and impressively at that unlike the guy from Bolton who think it's his right to get a big fight with nothing of substance behind it.

No, it has nothing to do with Maidana being the one who beat Broner, the fight is being discredited because of Broner and his uncertainty of where he ranks amongst fighters. It could have been anyone in the ring that night and the fight would still recieve the discrediting because the fight exposed Broner for what he might be rather than display Maidanas true abilities. He didn't do anything special or have to for that matter to won that fight.

was broner all hype? yes. was everybody saying it? yes. but at the same time most people were saying "maidana isn't the guy to expose broner, he is tailor made, broner is gonna get a brutal KO that will hype him even more", there was just few people that were picking maidana to win the rest were cheering for him but at the same time they didn't believe he could get the victory

The one thing that was impressive about Maidana in his fight with Broner was that he executed his game plan to near perfection. He believed (or knew) he was the stronger, tougher more experienced fighter and he was able to execute that in the ring. Was their anything particularly special about the performance? No. It was cut and dry, be the bully. Press the action, and it worked. He was still wide with this punches, slow, telegraphing his attacks. But some reason in this case, it was effective. Floyd Senior already said those punches wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in hell at touching Floyd Jr. He would have shoulder rolled the **** out them. Without trying to bring Mayweather into this, my point being is. He did nothing special, he just did what he needed to do.

You beat a legend you become a legend.

You beat a hypejob you become a hypejob.

Maidana is definitely a flawed fighter but with his big punch he will get some upsets from time to time. He is overhyped. He is a limited fighter that will lose to a complete fighter or atleast an intelligent fighter that can avoid the big punch and outbox him. He can be hurt early in fights also but Maidana to his credit has never been stopped despite that vulnerability.
