  • What makes Erislandy Lara so great?

Everyone is throwing out his name to fight Floyd. Why wouldnt this be another Canelo Floyd? Who really has he fought and beaten?

I don't get it either. Floyd beats him soundly and it isn't that fun to watch.

Lara isn't anywhere near great, he's just a good fighter
he brings movement, speed, and some pop
he's not a fucking slowpoke at JMW like Alvarez and Cotto were
Floyd's not used to fighting shifty fighters like Lara
wouldn't pick him to beat Floyd, but he'd have a chance
the fight would suck horribly though, ugly style clash
and Floyd would never do this anyway

It wouldn't be another Alvarez because Lara isn't flatfooted and pampered.

Lara has beaten Paul Williams, Austin Trout, Vanes Martirosyan (bull**** draw, Lara was clearly winning), and Alfredo Angulo. It's the best resume in the current 154 division.

Would he beat Mayweather? Probably not, it's hard to imagine anyone beating Mayweather in battle of distance and timing. But Lara poses a more interesting challenge than almost anyone else at 147 or 154.

he's as boring as fraud jr, typical black slick runner who's too afraid to engage his opponents.

sums it up nicely, solid post brother.

yes, it's hard to imagine someone beating floyd at HIS OWN game. but, lara is naturally bigger and stronger, advantages that help lara.

Lara had a draw with Molina and a draw with Vanes, who got wiped out by Andrade. I don't know where you get this "clearly beating Vanes" crap when he wasn't. Also, he was dropped twice by Angulo and was en route to being stopped before he pulled some schit out his ass to win on that fluke victory.

Now, to answer TS's question. Lara poses a stylistical matchup for anyone at 154 not named Mayweather or Andrade.

Austin Trout freaking sucks... I've never been big on the guy in the first place but I give him props for the Cotto win despite me not thinking he would win. But other than that, Trout has never even been a top 154 lber.

Good post, I agree. Lara has largely gone unnoticed, but he's racked up a pretty impressive resume: Williams, Trout, Angulo, Vanes, Molina, etc.

As you say, Lara poses an interesting style match-up because he may very well force Floyd to push the action and could match him in speed and movement. He'd also present much more of a challenge than Khan/Maidana... lol.
