I don't recall Haye trying to plead for the chance to let it heal or just delay the absolute minimum amount of time, say a few weeks. For a massive 4ish month delay and another injury after an already bad record, that's too much smoke. You're clearly a strong Haye fan to so vehemently defend his drop outs. I quite like him but I fully accept he's simply had too many drop out's with numerous excuses (some legit) for every one to be true. He undoubtedly bends the truth and is a very selfish, money orientated fighter.

What part of "he's not allowed to fight with a gash on his eyebrow by the BBBofC" don't you understand?
Plus, having an open gash on your forehead cannot be compared to having a bad toe or bad hands. Fights get stopped on the basis of cuts! Should Haye be prepared to take a loss for the sake of Tyson Fury, instead of postponing the fight a couple of months?
Anyways, this is the last i'll say on the subject. It is quite simply idiotic.
To call this idiotic is frankly rude, given you clearly weren't at least fully comprehending the point being put forwards to you before. That is idiotic. You're in a minority being quite so understanding of Haye and his drop-outs. For good reason.
Great win today though, you smashed us.Comment

There's nothing to defend. Injuries happen in boxing, I wouldn't call anyone a coward for dropping out of a fight with a cut. A fight he wouldn't have been allowed to fight anyway.I don't recall Haye trying to plead for the chance to let it heal or just delay the absolute minimum amount of time, say a few weeks. And you've got to understand that when Haye got injured, they took it to Sky who's next PPV date was in February. Tonight I believe? There weren't any other available dates, regardless of whether Haye wanted the fight or not.
I think it's shameful and embarrasing that Haye dropped out of the Klitschko fights those years ago, the toe-excuse, the charr fight etc. But the Fury cut was absolutely not one of those moments.
What I said was idiotic was the discussion about whether Haye should have fought when 1) he was cut. Legitimately cut. 2) he wouldn't have been allowed to fight under BBBofC rules and regulations. I did understand the point that you should put more on the line for a big fight - I get that.
But that doesn't take away from the fact that no fighter should enter the ring injured, especially with a cut and especially not in a fight against a 6'9 guy which could determine your future as a championship contender.
That smart thing was to find a new date. And they did. I understand Fury was a bit angry, but he would have had to do the same thing.
Thanks, we were brilliant.Comment

That's all I was really after dude. Thanks for clarifying and elaborating. I respect guys whom fight with injuries they think they can cope with in the interests of a big fight, audience, being a fighting man, selfless, and the reality that top level athletes and boxers often have slight injuries to work through. That said cuts in fight sports is a little different I accept. It's just that Haye cried wolf too many times and ran out of drop-out cards really. I know someone that saw him on a flight with the shoulder strap awhile back and apparently he looked really uncomfortable with it in fairness. There's nothing to defend.
