    Is PRIME Ricky Hatton underrated?

    Let me state this.

    Ricky Hattons PRIME was SHORT

We make excuses for certain fighters, i.e mike tyson being shot at 24 because of prison etc.

Ricky Hatton was a guy who drank to excess, had a terrible diet, took class a drugs etc etc etc. as a result, his body was ruined at a young age.

When Hatton was in his prime (up to the tzsyu fight imo) he was a fantastic fighter.

Look at those early fights, head movement, speed of hand and foot, volume punching, very good pop, the tenacity of a bulldog, heart, chin.

The guy was a different fighter back then. in his later fights he was different, his volume dropped, his head movement vanished, he was a pale immitation.

That game only works if he beat someone of a higher level in his prime than what he got beat by after being supposedly past it. If not it is just speculation, and the most likely scenario being the obvious one. Which is he got stomped on when faced the best.

Nope, Tyson, like Hatton, was very overrated. Possibly the biggest hypejob ever.

Vastly underrated. He would run through the likes of Danny Garcia.

I agree, he was past prime when he fought Mayweather.

After the Mayweather fight there was a very noticeable change in his punch resistance.

Lol. yeah, beating Michael Spinks, an ATG, in less than a round didn't do anything for him. that win alone is better than any win Wlad or Vitali have on their resume's, yet Tyson is overrated? Doing that at 21 years old? Tyson is probably the most naturally gifted heavyweight of all times - even, in my opinion, up there with Ali.

With regards to Ricky, I love how everyone is now calling Kostya Tszuy a 'nobody', as if he wasn't amongst the best fighters in the world at the time. Yes, he was inactive etc, but he was still a massive favourite and Ricky beat him up. He also has several other good wins.

So I would say yes. He is underrated for a few different reasons, mainly because he didn't look good at 147 - a weightclass he should have never entered.

If you're the legitimate champ it doesn't matter what the name of your belt is.
