Personally, a big part of my frustration with GGG is that he and his management know this and areperfectly content fighting stiffs while waiting for these other guys to come around. And they're also willing to dip down in the pool at 54 and target a guy like Kirkland. Instead of looking up and going after a guy like Sakio Bika. Or maybe the Stitz-AA winner. That's a bit hypocritical IMO.
    U're absolutely correct.

Abel Sanchez: "Martinez will never fight Golovkin"

Reporter: "Why don't you move up to 168 and fight Ward?"

Abel Sanchez: "We're going to fight Martinez first"

Reporter: "Who do you want next"?

Abel Sanchez: "Chavez Jr at 168."

I don't get why people aren't honest with themselves at simply admit the truth. This has nothing to do with unifying the division or whatever first. It's about the risk is being to high for the reward to move up and fight the likes of Ward. Yes, I know it's not sexy to admit that the fearless Golovkin isn't actually totally without fear. I actually think it's fair enough, but these round about excuses are annoying the fuck out of me.

I was posting about posters acceptance level not saying specifically that GGG has fought all bums. I dont think his resume warrants p4p

I do think that he is given a pass by his fans for fights that if ward or quillin had made they would be highly critical, even if they won by KO like GGG.

Adama, and if made, Lee, are not the level of opponents a supposedly top 5 p4p and best MW in the world should be fighting. You think the same posters that anointed GGG with these titles would call quillin the same if he had the same resume.

          I don't.

And any time you mention his resume. Some of these guys act like you've sinned about Jesus himself. I just wanna see this guy fight somebody with a pulse.

Yea, idc if he moves up or not. I just care if his opponent level moves up from c or d to at least b. If he can't get fights at mw. Then move up or down to find better fights. It's his choice. But in the end he'll be wasting his career on guys like lee and Adama if nothing changes in a year.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news. But if Matthew Macklin is your signature win in nearly a decade as a pro. You've fought you fair share of bums.

                      I don't.
Posters who are big fans of whatever fighter are less inclined to see any criticism of their favourite guy. Golovkin is very clearly struggling to get opponents at 160 but him and his team seem to have some hope that within the next year they can finally get one of the best middleweights in the ring with him. The possibility of a Ward fight at 168 is i'm sure very likely (unless Ward moves to 175 permanently) down the road but it should not be a fight for now as Golovkin is a middleweight and there is no need to go up until the hope of gettting the best middleweights seems completely futile. As a big Mayweather supporter you should be more sympathetic than most about the importance of the timing and management of fights. The whole "we'll fight anyone between 154-168" was partly posturing but also a signal that they want good fights. I don't think it should be taken completelly literally though, as if any fighter would fight any other fighter irrespective of all the circumstances. Also things have changed, Golovkin has a lot more status than he had when he smashed up Proksa.

I think that despite the lack of any stellar opponents on his record thus far that it isn't ridiculous to have him in the p4p top 10 although only maybe 9 or 10, considering the manner he has been beating strong and mediocre world level contenders. Personally I have him just outside the top 10 at present and knocking out Andy Lee will not push him into the top 10.

Quillin is unlikely to look as good beating Golovkin's opponents as Golovkin has and that is a big part of the difference. It is not just who you beat but also how you look doing so.
