I'm not sure who 'they' were, but they probably should have had a lay down.

      I see this a lot.

How is a guy who comes to the ring 10 lbs north of their weight class small for that weight?

If Martinez is a small MW then Mayweather is an absolutely tiny WW.

I disagree. I think he would have gotten Mayweather for sure. And it would be a fight that would have been fairly easy to make IMO.

Look at the guy's Martinez fought at 160lb..Chavez Pavlik Pwill even Murray Macklin and Barker all were bigger then him..This is what great fighters do tho,imo Martinez could have said, wait I'm no MW..Went back down to 154lb and owned the weightclass..Instead he chose to challenge himself..Which in this case(and in Lara's case)May is unwilling to do..

But those fighters being "bigger" than him does not mean that he is a "small MW". Like IronD said, when he comes in 10 LBs over on fight night, he's not a "small" MW.

agreed, but you missed the point.....bradley is the much bigger name. guerrero can't headline a ppv without someone like floyd or pac. bradley proved that he can be a ppv attraction......you can't use that excuse of "oh, floyd wouldn't fight tim because he isn't a ppv attraction".....bradley is p4p, has been on ppv multiple time and MOST importantly he is in floyd comfortable weight class. lara is a totally different story because he doesn't bring anything worth while.....no money, higher weight class, no ppv history, no fanbase, etc. . floyd only goes 154 for high profile fight.

How is Macklin bigger than Martinez? Or Williams? This is what I don't understand.

Yeah he fought bigger guys but how does that make him small for the weight? He's not small for the weight he comes to the ring at 170 lbs. How is he small for the weight when he comes to the ring 10 lbs north? Doesn't make sense.

Your comparison would make sense if Mayweather came to the ring at 164, 10 lbs north of 154. But instead he comes to the ring at 150, 4 lbs south!!

Plus, 160 is Martinez 3rd weight class, 154 is Mayweather's 5th. Mayweather can't even get as high as 154 whilst Martinez comes to the ring at 170 lbs. Not the same at all, to be honest.

I'm fully aware of what was said, but Martinez is almost 40. He is not cutting down to 154 without paying the price.

Tim made the smart business decision; at Top Rank and HBO he's a big fish in a small pond really not alot options at 147. Even if he loses to Manny he's still an A-Side vs anybody else. At Golden Boy and Showtime he's just a fish in the ocean and a loss to Floyd puts him in pack with everybody else.

He did right, every boxers career and legacy does not rely on a Mayweather fight. Yes it's a big payday, but long term he will make that anyway.
