All of Khan's fights in the US, except Molina, did better ratings than Broner-Maidana. So I really have a hard time believing this.

khan gained a publicity boost several years ago associating himself with pacquiao but he is unknown to the casual fan at this point.

At least in the U.S., Khan is unknown. Maidana is now known for whooping Broner. Khan isn't really known for any win in particular, just an internet hit with the Prescott KO and the Garcia one.

Khan is better known, for whatever reason, than Maidana.

Maidana has beaten Broner - but he's never been in with a popular American fighter like Khan has on a couple of occasions. Also, let's not forget that Broner was doing meagre ratings on HBO and could barely sell 3k tickets for his fight.

His profile was just hyped up. But of course, Maidana has had a lot more press recently and that comes with a lot of notoriety.
